But even if he is a NBC do we really want a 3rd rate governor from a 3rd rate state who is GOOFY looking and a bad speaker? I really don’t get the facination with this doofus?

I think it's harder these days to be a Presidential candidate because of the emphasis on being telegenic/photogenic. I seem to recall reading somewhere that James Madison wasn't an especially tall fellow, and was perceived as being somewhat of a nerd. Certainly he was a very intelligent and accomplished man. I'm not at all sure that someone who looked like him would be ever seriously considered as a modern Presidential candidate. So, no, I'm not so quick to dismiss someone based on looks.

While what you said is technically correct at the time it was lobbied hard by both sides and both sides understood (and made clear to the governor) what was at stake. Reagan later regretted it and rightly so because it did turn out to be a big opening for the abortion movement.

All eyes on 2010.

All this discussion about who will be the conservative candidate in 2012 is, at this point, mildly interesting -- but -- I also want to see all eyes/discussion on 2010.

Quickest way to stop Obama and the Democrat's madness is control of Congress.

Unless things have changed, Congress controls the Government purse strings every year.

RomneyBOT broncobilly: "Because you can cut and paste a mile of red nonsense doesn’t mean a thing."

So, broncobilly, what does "mean a thing"?

How about Romney's abuse of Seamus?

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse?
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car. Romney's sons, all under 13, howled in disgust.
Romney pulled off the road into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, and they drove on to Ontario.
.....David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently,
in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever
for the suffering that the solution may cause."

It was illegal but Romney is always "above the law (see fake badges, impersonating LEO in multiple states, faking endorsements, dirty tricks, .............)"

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly — they may, in fact, be illegal.
Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone
from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel
or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the
animal carried thereon.
" An officer for the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation
saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer,
Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law
but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck,
and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?
Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip
"Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter,
in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack.
e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog," read the article.
Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for.
....What Happens to a Dog on a Roof Traveling 50 MPH?"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely
the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea
in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon.
Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. "He scrambled up there every time we went on trips,"
the Republican said during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. "He got in all by himself and enjoyed it."

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon,
keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble.
''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window,
payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.
As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust,
Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car,
then hopped back onto the highway."

"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney
Critics, jokesters make issue of tale
TIME.com's Swampland blog has been flooded with more than 200 comments
from readers complaining of animal cruelty"

Coming from someone who knows first hand about ignorance and demons.

Why thank you!

I have researched the roots and foundation of MORMONISM!

When would be a good time for a couple of my highly trained ANTI-Mormons to visit your home and explain the lack of need for a RESTORED Gospel® to you?

You wish.

If pushed into commenting on Romney, not a threat to
Gov. Palin as he doesn’t generate the energy or the
Conservative message of Gov. Palin.

Romney lives around 10 miles from me here in San Diego part of the time and busy in our state politics and we hope he doesn’t turn us into Mass. west.

And that’s what’s wrong with the Republican Party today, its fatal flaw: Romney supporters despise Palin supporters despise Romney supporters, ad infinitum ad nauseum.

We will never win the presidency again until we can come together as we did under Reagan.

Good gracious, are you still going off about that dog? That was decades ago.

Romney was there. He said the dog liked it. If it didn’t why would he lie? He just wouldn’t mention it then. He brought it up.

Unfortunately, if Romney gets his fascist control of your state,
then rather than California citizens voting, it will a few
of Romney's partners in Carpetbagger-crime from Utah
whom he will call to determine how you will henceforth live.

Massachusetts still has Romney's socialized medicine AND gay marriage
and never had a vote.

Carpetbagger docile, "Pillsbury’s dough-Boy", DNC-pandering, RINO Mitt "the-Myth" Romney
gleefully installs his utter-socialistHillaryCARE=RomneyCARE
which he FORCED upon Massachusetts taxpayers without a single one of their vote (the Romney way(TM).
This has paved the way for socialized medicine throughout America (similar to Romney's gay marriage).

Romney is NOT a conservative and I want nothing to do with him. A LOT of people don’t do their homework, I don’t care if every conservative on the planet endorses him. It won’t make him a conservative.

Stupid is pushing liberal RINOS and expecting Conservatives to back them. Liberal RINOS such as McCain and Romney cannot beat true Liberals such as Obama. If you are going to have an enemy in the White House, most Conservatives will choose the enemy that will not be associated with their party. The Moderates and Liberals will flock to the Democrat Liberal.
