After arriving 1/2 hour late due to prior committments and incliment weather, I arrived just after the group had started their walk to Clair McCaskill's office.
I wandered behind the main group and caught up just as the crossed the main street.
With the temperature hovering around 20 degrees farenheit, snow on the ground 3 to 4 inches deep, and more snow blowing on the wind we made our way to the Plaza/Westport office of Clair McCaskill.
It appeared that there were approximately 200 people gathered to protest PORKULUS.
As chants rose on the wind Blind Mule stepped forth and began reading letters he had received from various politicians regarding the "stimulus bill" passed by Congress.
Most of the responses from politicians were of the nature that the bill had to pass to save the country.
One letter in particular, from Sam Graves, received an enormous response from the crowd as Mr. Graves was thanking us for gathering.
As the event wore down people started drifting back toward the Plaza.
Afterward, there were several people that gathered on a corner and kept the event going, even in a small way, for awhile.
Eventually it was just too cold and snowy to remain and I made my way home to post this thread.
Enjoy the pictures in the thread below.
Hey Turbo,
Are you talking about the gal that was staggering down the sidewalk? She was TRASHED. My buddy and I weren’t sure if it was an early start or the finish to a REALLY late night... LOL
And just so you know... this is the person with the favorite doctor... the PROCTOLOGIST!! hehehe
Awesome Pictures and am so proud of seeing so many attend in spite of the bad weather.
Did you notice if the media showed up?
Let’s see if the Kansas City Red Star covers it tomorrow
I saw a camera there from one of the stations but I don’t know which one.
AWESOME! Thank you for posting the pics.
Channel 4 covered the st louis tea party and others, but not KC! Too cold for then perhaps?
There were some amazing kids there as well. One boy (5 or 6) had a sign that stated, “George Washington wants his country back”. His younger brother was telling everyone that ‘Obama wants to steal my piggy bank’. I suggested that he remove all of his money, fill it with pebbles or marbles and send that to Obama instead. His Mom thought that was a great idea. Their sister was also very active, and all I could think was Thank God their parents are teaching them at a young age. These are our future leaders!
Thanks to all who helped organize this tea party. We left quite a few pairs of “responsible shoes” at Claire's office too!
Always glad to have more people at these gatherings, even if they do have to put up with a 3.5 hour one way drive through blinding snow and heavy winds. :^)
