[Senator Chris] Dodd, [Rep. Rosa] DeLauro Introduce National Service Bills

Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Rosa DeLauro got together today to introduce four public-service bills in their respective chambers of Congress.

National service was a major theme of President Barack Obama's ascent to office -- mentioned prominently in his inaugural address. This package of bills speaks directly to that topic, expanding service possibilities for all age groups.

One bill would establish a summer program for kids to serve in an organized community project. Another would allow high-school students to spend a semester getting academic credit for volunteering. And a third would establish a national program encouraging people 55 and older to pitch in.

The fourth bill in their "Service for All Ages" initiative would expand the existing AmeriCorps education benefit to make up for 15 years of unmatched college tuition hikes.

Three community volunteers from Connecticut -- Mozelle Vann of Hamden, Latoya Braham of Farmington and Luz Burgos of Middletown -- came to the Capitol Hill announcement to drive the point home.

Dodd's senate bills are co-sponsored by Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., making it a bipartisan effort in that chamber. Cochran said in a statement today, "The bills that Sen. Dodd and I have introduced in the Senate today will help provide opportunities for people of all ages to give back to their communities and the world around them."

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude..."

Well then we'll just have to call it something else and the sheeple won't know any better. "The bills that Sen. Dodd and I have introduced in the Senate today will help provide opportunities..."

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Because the more ignorant they are, the easier they are to fool and lead around by the nose. This is what these Dems want, ie dummies who will believe their BS. This is exactly how BO got elected: by the ignorant who couldn’t think their way out of a paper bag, products of an educational system run by libs.
