At a press conference today announcing the drug cartel arrests (in which he had little to no involvement), US AG Holder also suggested that re-instituting a U.S. ban on the sale of assault weapons would help reduce the bloodshed in Mexico, where last year 6,000 people were killed in drug-related violence.

Exact quote As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons, Mr. Holder said. I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.-Holder
AR-15 ping!
Hopefully the next 2nd Amendment case SCOTUS will address these issues so they can stop nickle and diming us.
Holder=CLUELESS.
I am going to make an assault on rib-tips, mojo sauce, lottery tickets, bling-bling, Kool cigarettes, as well as studded, shiny, and fur trimmed objects.
That’s a Mexican problem. My liberty is an American thing, no connection whatsoever.
Who gives a crap about how another countrys thugs get their weapons?!?!
You didn’t seem to care about the definition of “asault weapon” when it came to the FALN you two-bit phoney!
Yes, Holder. Banning automatic weapons from Americans will definately keep them out of the hands of criminals in Mexico with the money to go to any market in the western hemisphere (or any other hemisphere) to buy their guns. Yet another example of stupidity from the Obamasiah Administration.
Rising in opposition this afternoon was Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who said that despite his view of Holder as a good man, Holder’s lack of good judgment precluded him from supporting his confirmation. “I have high praise for Eric Holder as an individual and as a lawyer,” he said. “I believe certain aspects, however, of his record disqualify him from serving as attorney general.” Coburn noted that he didn’t believe Holder would adequately defend the First and Second Amendments.
Banning guns in the US will help reduce bloodshed in Mexico.
One of the most dumb-ass things that I have ever heard.
1. Who cares if it helps Mexico or not? We don’t set internal policies to help other nations.
2. Maybe some of the Mexicans being killed actually deserve to be killed, and perhaps some of those killed are good for US security.
3. We have a 2nd Amendment that preempts your attempts you stupid Marxist Trotsky-ite.
So this is the approach they will take...
Without a sensationalized shooting involving “assault weapons” to point to, they are going to justify it by the violence in other countries.
Out of the desire of not being banned(or potentially arrested), I’ll say no more.
Mexican drug-runner: “Hey vato, I need twenty AR-15’s.”
Mexican gun-runner: “Sorry, the U.S. just made all assault rifles illegal, you’ll have to wait for a Republican President to overturn this law.”
Mexican drug-runner: “Okay, I’ll just quit my job for now running drugs, and take that job at El Taco Hut, they’re paying $8/hr + benefits.”
The End.
from ABC news, Obama /assault weapons ban.
Ciudad Juarez would be a good place to start.
During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider.
“I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller,” Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual’s right to own a weapon.
