In a second reversal of the Bush administration, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Wednesday he is scrapping leases for oil-shale development on federal land in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
Salazar rescinded a lease offer made last month for research, development and demonstration projects that could have led to oil-shale works on 1.9 million acres in the three states, greatly expanding the program.
"I am withdrawing that Jan. 14 solicitation because in my view it was a midnight decision, and it was flawed," Salazar told reporters on a teleconference call from Washington, D.C

Your post is true but the pubbies didn’t really use forty years of Dim oil drilling obstruction the last two cycles and during the presidential election and they won’t use it this time. I don’t think they know how. Honestly, it is not their spine that is at fault it is their mentality or lack thereof. I will do what I can for the pubbies b/c there is no other choice and end of freedom is near. They cannot win if they don’t fight tooth and nail and that includes attacking the global warming lie. Carbon caps. UN sovereignty over our nation. Education, the left’s policies have ruled education since the sixties and it is a TOTAL FAILURE that costs ever more money to support teacher’s unions but not a word. Obama is just a student of Saul Alinsky. Some of us knew this was coming...We tried to warn America..but they were too stupid and ‘Hopemotized’ to see it or admit it.
Not blaming Bush, just not crediting him for waiting till the last minute, either.
Why not do this in, say, Feb 2005 and let the companies get in and involved for four years so it's harder to get them out?
Or maybe in 2002.
Or anytime before the last week of Bush's two terms?

The trouble with people who advocate permanent revolution is that they don’t have a clue how to run a country. And I think the latter is what Obama’s most nagging problem is. We don’t yet have a clue how incompetent he really is and the damage he is doing.
Oh ‘WE’ have a clue....it’s just that all the fools that voted for him that don’t.
They learned their lessons over time, we haven't.
They're not going to come for your guns. They'll try a simple, tiny ammo tax which might cause some ire, but with everything else going to hell and gas at $6, it'll just be accepted.
Then they'll raise your healthcare rates and insurance fees for having a gun, smoking, etc....but "we're not taking your guns, just making the health costs fair."
Then some muslim terrorist will ride around through five states shooting little old ladies like that guy John Muhhammad did. And the call will go out for banning more assault weapons for terrorists, but not hunters....but Obama will "stand up" for so-called "hunters rights" and you will pay higher fees for certain guns and higher insurance premiums and that's just for YOU.
Next, your kids won't be able to get college funding or admittance if you own a gun because it wouldn't be fair for the state to invest in a child who might be accidentally killed at home. When they get pulled over at sobriety checkpoints, there will be a check by their name for extra attention....same at TSA checkpoints in the airport. I'm sorry son, you're gonna miss your plane....says here your daddy owns a gun?
If you've heard 10% of the chaos and nonsense coming out of washington the last thirty days, this won't sound too far stched to you!!
In Summary: They will not simply come for your guns--they won't give you an easy target.
There will be no Alamo (or Waco!) It will be much uglier and drawn out than a blaze of glory. They will make our lives and our family's lives hell drip by drip.
The decision will be yours, and these Chicago thugs will make you or your children/family an offer you can't refuse.
Obama was backed by the Saudis and this is designed to make us energy serfs forever. This will mean $800 million for 2010 and 2012 elections for the Democrats.
We have 3 times the Saudis reserves in oil shale.

The Constitution says that the federal government can't restrict your right to keep and bear arms.
It doesn't say that the government can't make it illegal to sell guns.
'cause, you know, the area around gun stores is just more dangerous. Kinda like the laws banning fast food restaurants in poor areas of town.

This action is insane; but it is quickly become the expected from this administration.

I remember a lot of loudmouths telling me for years on FR, there was no difference in the parties.
So learn from the first weeks of this administration, how wrong those claims were and are.
