Mitt Romney backs GOP Stimulus Detractors with PAC Money
LA Times ^ | February 24, 2009 | Staff

Today, as ABC's perceptive Rick Klein notes, Romney's PAC -- Free and Strong America -- donated $1,000 each to 11 Republican congressmen targeted in a retaliatory ad campaign by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for voting against President Obama's economic stimulus bill. Romney praised the Republicans as "standing up for fiscal responsibility and saying no to spending abuse."

Reagan was a registered Dem less than four years before he ran for Governor. In fact IMO, it is what made him so effective in giving DEMS the smack down day in and day out back in the 70's and 80's. He had been there at one time. As a convert he was more stalwart than some who had been lifetime party members.

Just the same reasons that our ANTI-EXES are so effective in EXPOSING the HIDDEN things of MORMONISM!!

This kind of blind hatred for Romney is harmful to our cause.

Your 'cause' is suspicious.

And I'm not blind.

Believing Romney is a conservative is taking a leap of faith.

The Romney lovers have been leaping,
jumping,
hopping,
skipping,
bouncing,
and gamboling their 'faith' for years.

“Your na-nanny boo-boo responses were childish, and I see you continue to fit the bill.”

I see quite a few of your own little “na-nanny boo-boo” responses through out this thread, so you can come down off your soapbox.

“You have make some huge leaps and assumptions in your posts, as well as “knowing” Romney is not honest. Do you know him perosnally, or is it just personal?”

Seriously? I just said “I don’t believe him to be...” That’s called an opinion and this thread is deep in evidence to support my opinion, from videos, to transcripts of debates, news articles, etc. And since when do people feel justified for personally attacking those of differing opinon? How very American of you!

“I can’t recall all the names you called Romney, but if you have the name of an “honest” politician - I think we’d all like to know. He’d be very popular right now.”

You won’t be able to recall, because I didn’t call Mitt any name. I don’t refer to him as “Myth” like some. I don’t name-call because it’s childish. Take the hint.

For someone who says they don’t support Romney, you sure have gone long lengths to defend his honor, even calling his detractors “obsessed” and claiming they’d like to club baby seals. Pretty huge leaps, indeed.

An injustice is an injustice. Without people speaking up they continue.

Have a nice day.

Were you this dedicated during the times that Mitt was making public appearances creating and spreading his lie that Ronald Reagan was “adamantly Pro-choice” a story that will take years to erase?

RE :”the GOP should restrict its list of qualified presidential candidates to those who opposed the bailout when the chips were down. Romney fails that test out of the box.

National Review had said that if McCain stood against the TARP that it might have backfired on him when the market crashed. But I looked at it another way. After GWB announced the Great Depression 2 it was obvious to me (regardless of what Levin and Hannity said with Ayers and Wright) that Mccain had little or no chance of winning the election, unlike in August when he had some chance. Given that, imagine if he stood against democrats and GWB, and with House Republicans.
He would have been a hero this year. Instead after the vote he whined about TARP being misused by Bush, looking pathetically phony, Imagine if he could have said he voted against it. But it was never meant to be,McCain is a phony and a coward that believes in nothing, but McCain.

While I really like Romney I agree with you his position on TARP rules him out for my support for President.

I only ask that if you hate Romney, to be fair, you hate Bush/mcCain worse because it was their bailout. Heck, and Bush bailed out GM too.

Cool. Done.

McCain didn’t offer a choice. I mean I couldn’t believe when he said that he wanted the government to back the mortgages of poor people, or whatever it was he said. And then 2 seconds later he was saying how Obama was going to increase taxes and how he was a socialist. This is why the GOP has no credibility. They rail day in and day out against the Democrats big government spending (rightly so), and then they turn around and pass Medicare Part D and Bush’s stimulus of 2008 (not to mention a whole host of other things).

Michael Steele was on Glenn Beck’s program the other day promising to go after members of his own party for pork barrel spending, and what do we hear today? The Democrats are pushing more government and the Democrats pushed through 60% of the pork in this new legislation (which automatically implies that the Republicans put in 40%!!!). We have no leadership and certainly no true values in the GOP.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Romney. To me he’s just another lip service politician. He thinks more inflation will get us out of this mess too, as I recall from an article posted here a few months back.

So far no one has pinged me with “Bush and McCain were good but Romney is bad”. Like him or not he is more articulate than McCain and would have made the debates fun. But otherwise I wouldnt want him president, ... well maybe over McCain, but that’s saying little.

Beck was great today when he went through all the Obama so called non-earmarks. One of his better shows which are pretty good.

You could tell Steel was lying by the way he answered the other day. As far as your mail point let me repeat my rant from the other day, before this earmark issue:

MY RANT ON WHY REPUBLICANS ARE NOT READY TO LEAD
But as far as Republicans ever taking the white house I have serious reservations of any candidate, including Romney. Talking to republicans I get the feeling few really understand the GWB disaster and his actions as a major contributor. There was a hero worship theme on much of talk radio that turned into circle the wagons message when things went bad. GWB courted many hosts to keep them on the party line, although it all broke down completely in 2007 with predictable election results. The myth is still out there (Hannity promoted) that GWB was the Patton of the WOT AND a well meaning victim of congressional or democrats bad budgets. I get many pings with these Hannity messages.

Add to that the voters demand that the federal government solve every problem, take care of every need. And the fact that republicans in congress for too long became lazy corrupt power/money brokers, borrow and spend instead of tax and spend.

Opposition to the Marxist's is a great position for republicans, they finally look principled. But in charge?? They have not earned it after years of disaster.

Probably not. Romney has had a lot explaining to do on a whole host of social issues, abortion, gay marriage/rights are the 2 that stand out.

Again, you are making the assumption that I am a “Romney for President” person and I am not. My defense of him stems from the attacks on him today after he gave money to conservative candidates from his PAC.

I know many people, including myself, that have had their “come to Jesus” moments with social issues. 15 years ago I had different views on abortion and “gay” rights. I know many, many people that - over time - have changed their hearts and minds over these issues. I have no idea if Mitt Romney is being politically expedient or if he is one of these people, but I am sure you have your opinion.

There is one thing we really lacked in the 2008 elections - money. We were outspent 3-1. If we want to be a force in the upcoming elections in 2010 and 2012 we better foster the relationships that can raise money for our candidates. If you can’t put the differences aside, so be it. I can right now, I only need to look at what is going on in our country and realize that kicking Mitt Romney around because he raises money is not going to get us anywhere.

Yes, you are. You are one of the most prolific pro Romney posters on this 400 plus thread.

Did you defend Reagan from Romney no you didn’t. Do you defend other liberal, none Romney politicians from criticism no you don’t, do you defend Crist and Giulianni or Bloomberg with such fervor, or at all, no you don’t, do you respond to my numerous posts to you no you don’t.

Your agenda is Mitt Romney.

There is nomy reasoning with you. I didn’t know you knew all my thoughts on the additional politicians you listed, are you privy to opinions? I don’t even know what posts you made that I didn’t respond to but I do have a life outside of this site. Quite frankly I don’t particularly like responsing to you now because you are very angry. Save your anger for the real enemy - the Left.

My agenda is not Mitt Romney, although I think he would have been a better candidate than McCain. Anyone would have been better than McCain. I didn’t see a real conservative in 2008, did you? I didn’t vote for Romney in the primaries - I voted for Ron Paul. I voted for Palin in the general election. I haven’t given Romney any money. Sounds like a huge Romney supporter, huh?
