Mitt Romney backs GOP Stimulus Detractors with PAC Money
LA Times ^ | February 24, 2009 | Staff

Today, as ABC's perceptive Rick Klein notes, Romney's PAC -- Free and Strong America -- donated $1,000 each to 11 Republican congressmen targeted in a retaliatory ad campaign by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for voting against President Obama's economic stimulus bill. Romney praised the Republicans as "standing up for fiscal responsibility and saying no to spending abuse."

It’s nice, but, unlike the National Review endorsement, Romney can’t buy his way into being a real conservative.

"Romney supporter turned Obama man Douglas Kmiec indulged in quite a litany of name-calling,
finger pointing and demagoguery against the GOP that would have been amazing from the same man only one year ago.
Kmiec has shown that he no longer cares much how he is viewed, going full Democrat Partisan at this point.
"

"Kmiec was named by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
to head the Romney for President Committee
on the Courts and the Constitution in 2007."

I laugh at the Romneyites who claim he would have beat Obama in the election. Romney had even less support than John McCain did. How that translates into him winning the presidency is beyond me...

None of the last 3 standing were strong enough candidates to overcome the media adoration and the lemmings belief in the “chosen one”. The GOP base would have pinched their nose and voted for them, no doubt, but we see how well that turned out for McCain. How the Republican side of the ticket turned out shows that RINOism is being kicked to the curb, not conservatism.

BINGO! I don’t know if I would have used the words religious racists, but there’s a section of people that just don’t believe him...no matter WHAT he does...and DOING is better than talking. He’s walking the walk, and they just won’t cut him a break. Romney has the total package and no matter what he says or does...they just don’t believe him. It’s sad, because I believe he is the next great hope for the party’s success.

Nice gesture. Still won’t vote for him for President.

Romney is not the great hope. Romney is a RINO who supports abortions for teens without notifying their parents.

Hey, I have no love for Bush or McCain.

You’re right, Romney is a loyal party guy. To me, that’s the antithesis of a leader.

RE “It’s nice, but, unlike the National Review endorsement, Romney can’t buy his way into being a real conservative’

Romney has problems but was much better than McCain, I know that says little for him. The lame argument for McCain was he was better than Obama, WOW! Similar problem.

McCain was pathetic and republicans rallying around him was a low point in history. National Review stuck up for McCain voting for Bailout, like Britt Hume did. These are all establishment Republicans that believe in fed gov and I am afraid Romney would be another.

We were screwed last year either way. I just hope you have similar or worse feelings for GWB/McCain.

There are some here who suffer an extreme case of Hair Envy in the form of Gov. Romney. That’s all it is. It’s a guy thing.

Guess who said this:

“Well, the fact that Romney campaigned on a abortion rights, gay rights, illegal alien rights, universal health care, gun grabbing platform must’ve fooled the MA voters. He’s a liberal like Arnie. And Arnie didn’t work out well for California either. Never again! If Romney tries to run for president again, I swear I’m going to glue his pro-abortion, pro-liberal agenda videos and speeches to the top of every Free Republic page and thread. Especially the one where Romney (with a slick/smug/evil smile on his face) is pushing for abortion “rights” for under age girls even without parental notification as long as a judge approves it. He’s one sick puppy.”

Jim Robinson

Jim Robinson is right!
