(WGN-AM) - Mayor Daley once again called on state lawmakers to pass tougher gun laws in Illinois. With support from state lawmakers, aldermen, police and religious leaders, the mayor said it is time for the state to licensing gun dealers in Illinois.
"We think that they should be licensed in the state of Illinois," Daley said. "that's one prerogative the General Assembly has. They license every other profession and they should license this profession as well."
Gun dealers are already registered on the federal level. However, if dealers are licensed at the state level they can prosecuted in state courts.
"When is the last time they've ever prosecuted a gun dealer in America in the federal courts? They should be busy everyday down there," Daley said.
Daley defended, in a way, athletes Michael Vick and Barry Bonds. He said both are examples of misplaced priorities of federal investigators.
"We still have a lot of dogfighting cases in America, every day," Daley said.
"Think of that. Michael Vick? Five years? Basically they could have fined him five, ten, fifteen, twenty million dollars. That would have been better off."
The Mayor is also calling for an assault weapons ban, tougher penalties for gun crimes around schools and public transportation stops and criminal background checks in private gun transactions.
That will be a very expensive .38 revolver. Is it a custom show piece or a violence prevention measure. I wouldn't spend more than $400 Max on an everyday defense revolver. IMO.
The revolver is a good defense gun, I admit. I own one and believe they are abosolutely the most reliable. Consider going with the .357 Cal, however. You can shoot .38 in it. I do this for the wife. When she takes it, we load .38 defense rounds. When I carry it, .357 mags.
Idiots can’t control illegal guns so they mask thier intentions by telling the public we will pass strict gun laws. Theses laws effect the law abiding citizen and prevents them from protecting themselves and thier families. WHO ARE THEY TRYING TO FOOL?
Read your home page stuff. You are wrong.
I’ve been in combat and will say I abhor and detest it, but, I would rather die than to be a subject. It’s just that simple.
They should be busy every day down there? Just damn!
those are only a sampling of the sources, if you would like more, i can send them to you...
Proposed Federal Gun Law:
No registered Democrat, or voter who consistently votes Democrat, is henceforth allowed to own, rent, touch, look at, or covet any firearm or ammunition. All existing and future firearms and ammunition in the U.S. are hereby the property of citizens who comport themselves in a conservative manner.
Daley understands perfectly:
Gun dealers are already registered on the federal level. However, if dealers are licensed at the state level they can prosecuted in state courts.
"When is the last time they've ever prosecuted a gun dealer in America in the federal courts? They should be busy everyday down there," Daley said.
They license every other profession? How ‘bout drug dealers, prostitutes and um Mayors? Let’s license them too while we’re at it, and to the same standards as required for an FFL
Are you kidding?
Clearly, they're fooling the fools among us. Sadly, many of the fools vote (some of them multiple times, dead or alive).
Dealers sell 4,000,000 guns a year.
Divide 4,000,000 by 60,000 and tell me why anyone should believe this.
Politicians sure have an obsession about guns, don’t they? The economy is going down the drain, and still, they obsess over inanimate objects in people’s closets. Talk about shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic!
I would do the following:
In the spirit of fair and balanced (ie. publishing CCW permit holders in Arkansas) - label all liberal Dem households as gun-free zones. Then see where the criminal element goes.
The cops in Chicago say Shortshanks and his barking poodle administration are crooked as pretzels. So why haven’t they arrested him?
So in addition to being federally licensed, he wants them state licensed as well?
Mayor tells state lawmakers what he wants.
How many other mayors in the US have the audacity to do this?
Just another day in the People's Republic of Chicago and for Illinois lawmakers owned by Mayor Daley.
So what part about it pissed you off?
None of it. Your numbers are off though. 90/10 is worst case. It’s more like 70/30 according to “experts”.
