Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Sunday defended his decision to raise taxes as a necessary step to stem California's staggering economic crisis.
During appearances on morning news shows in Washington, D.C., Schwarzenegger said he would gladly accept money from the federal stimulus package approved by Congress last week even though some fellow Republican governors had balked at the program. And he predicted that although California's economy would begin rebounding next year, it would take "years from now to get back to where we were."

The governor called the federal stimulus plan a "terrific package" and said Republican leaders throughout the nation needed to shelve party ideologies in the face of the ongoing economic crisis. He cited, for example, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who has said he may refuse federal stimulus money for his state.
"Gov. Sanford says that he does not want to take the money . . . and I want to say to him: I'll take it. I'm more than happy to take his money or any other governor in this country that doesn't want to take this money," Schwarzenegger said on Stephanopoulos' program.

But the Republican governors who refuse any of the stimulus money are making a serious mistake.
EVERY taxpayer in the Country provided money for this bill, including the residents of their own states. By not accepting their share of a bill they didn’t want, they are shortchanging their residents and helping out rats like the Guberator and Obama. It will come back to haunt them later when a Democrat runs against them.

Schwarzenegger became a governor to be a ‘real hero’ for the people. But he became the villain.

This is like winning an Oscar! ...As if I would know! Speaking of acting, one of my movies was called "True Lies." It's what we RINOs should have called our convention.
My fellow socialists, this is an amazing moment for me. To think that a once scrawny boy from Austria could grow up to hijack a recall in California and try to overturn the natural born citizen clause in the U.S. Constitution to support the marxist president of the United States. That is an illegal immigrant's dream. It is the Obama dream.
I was born in Europe ...and I've traveled all over the world. I can tell you that there is no place, no country, more compassionate, more generous, more accepting and more welcoming of socialism than Europe.
As long as I live, I will never forget that day, years ago when I abandoned my values and married into the Kennedy clan.

Tonight, I want to talk about why I'm even more proud to be a RINO -- why I'm proud to be a liberal and why I believe this country is in good hands with Obama
When I was a boy, the Soviets occupied part of Austria. I saw their tanks in the streets. I saw communism with my own eyes. I remember the glee we had to show for communism.As a kid I saw the socialist country that Austria became after the Soviets came. I love socialism and I love the Austrian people -- but I always knew bringing socialism to America would be the goal for me. In school, when the teacher would talk about crushing America capitalists, I would daydream it. I would sit for hours watching American movies transfixed by my heroes like Saul Alinsky. Everything about America seemed so big to me so open, so possible.
I finally arrived here in 1968. I had empty pockets, but I was full of dreams. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching Lyndon Baines Johnson on TV. A friend who spoke German and English, translated for me. I heard Johnson saying things that sounded like socialism, which I embraced. Then I heard Reagan speak. He was talking about being an actor before he was elected Governor of California!
I said to my friend, "That guy went from Hollywood to Governor. What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I must pretend to be a Republican!" And I've faked being a Republican ever since! And trust me, in my wife's family, that means you're really a Democrat! I do not share the values of of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, or George W. Bush.
To my fellow illegal immigrants listening tonight, I want you to know how welcome you are in this country. We RINOs admire your ambition. We encourage your fraud. We believe in forcing our taxpayers to pay for you. One thing I learned about America is that if you cheat and steal and lie, the Democrats are truly open to you. You can achieve anything with the help of Democrats.
Everything I have -- my career, my success, my family -- I owe to Democrats. In this country, it doesn't make any difference what party you join. It doesn't make any difference if you came here illegally. It doesn't make any difference if you don't even speak English and won't bother learning.
The California Democrats gave me opportunities and our illegal immigrant dreams came true. I want other socialists to get the same chances I did, the same opportunities. And I believe, yes we can. That's why I believe in Obama, that's why I believe in socialism and that's why I believe in this President.
Now, many of you out there tonight are "Republican" in your hearts and in your beliefs. Maybe you're from Guatemala. Maybe you're from the Philippines. Maybe Europe or the Ivory Coast. Maybe you live in Ohio, Pennsylvania or New Mexico. And maybe, just maybe, you don't agree with the Democrats on every single issue. Well screw you! I say to you tonight, socialism is what's great about this country. We can hate Bush and still be patriotic, still be American and still be good Republicans, but don't you DARE question Obama!
My fellow immigrants, my fellow Americans, how do you know if you are a RINO? I'll tell you how.
If you believe that people should be accountable to the government, NOT government should be accountable to the people, then you are a RINO! If you believe a person should be treated as a member of an interest group, NOT as an individual, then you are a RINO! If you believe the government knows how to spend your money better than your family does, then you are a RINO! If you believe our educational system should not be held accountable for the progress of our children, then you are RINO! If you believe the United Nations, not Americans, are the best hope of democracy in the world, then you are a RINO! And, ladies and gentlemen, if you believe we be concerned about the civil liberties of terrorists, then you are a RINO!
There is a way you can tell if you're a real Republican. You have faith in free enterprise, faith in the resourcefulness of the American people, and faith in the U.S. economy. As a RINO, I do not! I am an economic girlie men. Without porkulus, I am pessimistic about our economy.
The Obama economy remains the envy of the world. Now they say India and China are overtaking us. So? We share the wealth. We move more government programs ahead. We move welfare ahead. Under President Obama and Vice President Biden, America's economy is moving ahead in spite of a recession they inherited and in spite of George W. Bush
Now, the GOP says Obama's porkulus bill is wrong. Don't believe that either. I've undermined our troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Germany and all over the world. I've underminded our troops in California, where they train before they go overseas. And I've underminded our military hospitals. And I can tell you this: Our young men and women in uniform need to have gays serve openly with them!
But sadly, they believe in America's traditions and they are fighting for it! We need to CHANGE America -- and remake it into a country that will make Michelle Obama proud to be an American!
That's what I admire most about the Democrats. They are people of perseverance.
They have inner strength. They doesn't flinch, doesn't waiver, do not back down. My fellow socialists, make no mistake about it. Communism is not incidious. Marxism simply yearns to destroy the individual and the entire national order. I governed by the polls because I was told it was it was popular. As a matter of fact, election results like Prop 8 showed the exact opposite about some of my choices in governing. But the core of staying Governor is is about polls. It's about making decisions the Democrat bosses think is right and then standing behind those decisions. That's why America is better with Obama as president.
He knows you reason with terrorists. You appese them. He knows you can sit down and talk with with people blinded by hate. He himself hates the power of the individual. He hates the religious freedom of others. Most Democrats hate the progress of women again abortion.The Chicago Democrat machine even hates the liberating breeze of democracy. But ladies and gentlemen, hate is a strong match against America's decency.
We're the America that sends out big government programs to pay for village children in another country. We're the America that sends out government agents to raise up the poor by stealing from the middle class. We're the America that wastes more than any other country, to try and stop AIDS in Africa and the developing world. Obama's America fights for imperialism, special rights and statism.
You know, when the Germans brought down the Berlin Wall, socialists cried. When that lone, young Chinese man stood in front of those tanks in Tiananmen Square, communists cried. But when Obama's buddies smiled in election victory after all those years in prison, we celebrated, too. We marxists still see ourselves as the lamp lighting the world especially for those who struggle. No matter in what labor camp we enslave, no matter in what injustice we cause, they hear our call, they see our light, and they feel the pull of our socialism. They come here illegally as I did because they believe. They believe in us.
Terrorists come because their hearts say to them, as mine did, "If only I can get to America and find a way to destroy from within." Someone once wrote: "There are those who say that freedom is nothing but a dream." They are right. In Obama's America it's a dream.
No matter the nationality, no matter the religion, no matter the ethnic background, America has socialists. And as governor of the bankrupt, former great state of California, I see the best in socialism -- our Assembly, our Secretary of State, our Attorney General, and and our mayors and county officials.
And what about the extraordinary men and women who go into politics and leech off the United States of America! I have such great respect for them and their cushy families.
Let me tell you about the sacrifice and commitment I've seen firsthand. In one of the socialist hospitals I visited, I met a young guy who was in bad shape. He'd lost a leg had a hole in his stomach, his shoulder had been shot through. I learned that if it hadn't been socialized medicine, he wouldn't have had to wait for hospital stay and would have been fixed up right away. But when I asked him, "When do you think you'll get out of the hospital?" He said, "sir, in three years." And do you know what he said to me then? He said it was okay because your taxdollars would get him a new leg, and get him some meth, and that he was an illegal immigrant going to back to California to reap our benefits alongside his buddies! He grinned at me and said, "Arnold, I'll be back!"
Ladies and gentlemen, the LBJ/Carter/Clinton era is back! Back from the attack on our homeland, back from the attack on our economy, back from Bush's attack on our way of life. Socialism is back because of the perseverance, character and leadership of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.
My fellow socialists, I know we refuse to accept with all our heart that America remains "the great idea" that inspires the world. We must remake America to look like Austria, the soviet union, and China so it's an honor for a communist to become a citizen here, have the state raise their family here, to have gay marriage and abortion on demand here, to cease allowing law-abiding citizens to own guns.
Our president, Barack Obama, has worked hard to achieve this. That's why I say, keep socialism in Washington forever!
