As I was arguing about the bailouts and spending with my cousin, I brought up the same thing. She drives a Lexus. When I pointed out that she was helping put the Detroit folks out of business, she just gave me that look that you often times get from liberals. You know, the look of “you must be crazy” and then she went on about quality and length of life of the car. When I pointed out that her car was in the garage twice as often as mine, and that our Chevy’s both have more than 125k miles on them, she just didn’t have an answer.

They simply do not get it.

It is about what WE should do, not what THEY do.

THEY don’t get that THEY are WE.

Foreign Car Owners (not companies) running the American Auto Industry

This is what the American Auto Industry needed back in 1973. Hopefully it isn't too late.

Kind of like almost every Volvo, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes (mostly the SUV models) I see in my town with Obama stickers. I just shake my head in bewildered amusement.

Hypocrites all!

We have friends who do not buy American either. And they say their cars are made in America so that makes it okay.

To which I say, “But the corporate profits go back to Tokyo.”

And I have news for them all, and I’m sure there will lots of folks who disagree, but we have been buying Ford for three decades and have never had a problem except once when we had to have a power window unit replaced. Big deal.

Hoorway for Ford Engineering, the tough truthness of America!

I've taken 3 Fords (F 250SD 4X4) past the 200,000 mile point, and 2 others past 250K. We've owned a couple dozen over the past 30-40 years, and aside from operator abuse, we have had very little trouble with 'em..

WOW!, you do a lot of driving.... 15K a year is more than most folks drive. 40 years of that would be only 600K total. And you’ve owned a couple of dozen?

I've got to agree with you. I've had my share of GM and Fords over the last 20 years and while the Ford was much better than the GM models, neither compare to my Toyota in terms of maintenance, performance and price. I would not have bought it had it not been made here. I couldn't afford to keep some the of GM cars I bought due to the repair expenses, never mind the inconvenience of it being in the shop 5 times a year.

For the record, I've never had an accident in my life. Heck, I've never had a traffic violation ticket.

just a half dozen since '79 myself.....family business.....my father another 6-8, my brother, son, nephew, all own(ed) Fords. Some were hand-me-downs.

20-40K/yr.....depending on where the bulk of our work is that year.

What really made me sahke my head was seeing O stickers on SUV’s and pickups here in Alaska. Those voters really didn’t understand the issues, did they?

I see you are from CT....

Lived their for a bit, but worked their for quite a number of years...

Nothing is made their anymore. Pratt & Whitney etc are shells of their former selves as they outsource.

So those driving those rides are probably in a high end community and work for a college, hospital admin, or maybe even for what remains of the insurance industry in CT. Unless, they are "Old Money" which if I remember correct CT had a fairly large amount of. Other than that, they are probably product liability attorneys.

G_D help us, these Apparatchiks are in power and are controlling things and are intent on remaking America in their secular humanistic image.
