How old is the earth?
AiG ^ | Bodie Hodge

Posted on 02/21/2009 6:03:46 PM PST by GodGunsGuts

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).

The question of the age of the earth has produced heated discussions on debate boards, classrooms, TV, radio, and in many churches, Christian colleges, and seminaries. The primary sides are:

*Young earth proponents (biblical age of the earth and universe of about 6,000 years)1

*Old earth proponents (secular age of the earth of about 4.5 billion years and a universe about 14 billion years old)2

The difference is immense! Let’s give a little history of where these two basic calculations came from and which worldview is more reasonable...

“No one knows”

But one side is more intent than the other on ensuring they’re seen as the only side that knows, to the point of lawsuits if necessary.

"...and the other six went from evening to morning not evening to evening."

I hope that you didn't do that deliberately. The words are "the Evening and the Morning, meaning the portion of darkness and the portion of daylight.

Hmmm. We are content with having Churches for each belief and content with having religious courses in schools. You, on the other hand, would shut down every church but your own and ban the teaching of evolution and geology and astronomy and physics and nuclear science in schools and colleges since it comflicts with your beliefs. Now who is more intent on ensuring that only one side is seen?

"the Evening and the Morning

Putting Bible quotes in parentheses and not even quoting the Bible correctly. And all this time I thought that your misquoting others was on purpose. Now I realize that you just misquote all the time.

God makes it clear that these are normal Earth days by defining them as having an evening and a morning

My normal morning has a sunrise. The sun was not created till day four.

I am still waiting for someone to explain why God had to rest on the seventh day?

And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

We are content with having Churches for each belief and content with having religious courses in schools.

What a joke. Another lie by evos; that there are religious classes in public schools to begin with, much less supporting them. Evos, by and large, are the biggest supporters of the freedom FROM religion group going. They have no tolerance for religion in schools, as is evidenced by their reaction when it comes to teaching creation in schools.

You, on the other hand, would shut down every church but your own and ban the teaching of evolution and geology and astronomy and physics and nuclear science in schools and colleges since it comflicts with your beliefs.

Sources? Do you think that this time you could actually produce some evidence to back up your wild assertions about tpanther, or creationists in general, depending on who you mean by *you*?

Now who is more intent on ensuring that only one side is seen?

The ones more intent on silencing the opposition are the ones who won't even consider an opt out option for their kids to not hear the creationist POV. No, it's a total ban on anything that comes against the TOE that will satisfy them.

How tolerant and condescending of you. We have your permission to believe what we want on your terms.

I sure am glad that we have a Constitution to protect us from people like you.

Your trying to manipulate my behavior with implying Divine displeasure with my actions that YOU don't like is not going to work.

Lying is a sin. Your behavior and judgement are between you and God. My actions will have no impact on that judgement.

I wasn’t quoting but that is the meaning according to the meanings of “evening” and “morning” used of the creative day.

“`ereb “evening”
eh’-reb
from ‘`arab’ (6150); dusk:—+ day, even(-ing, tide), night.

boqer “morning”
bo’-ker
from ‘baqar’ (1239); properly, dawn (as the break of day); generally, morning:—(+) day, early, morning, morrow.

From that I would say this is not the what is being spoken of as day here.

” .....meaning the portion of darkness and the portion of daylight.”

Sources? Provide the links that demonstrate that I want to shut down science. (which you won't of course, because you haven't provided any other links asked for yet)

Unbelievable!

Yup, most lies are.

Oh, don't forget, lying is a sin and God is watching you..... and waiting....
