If Gov. Deval Patrick gets to appoint any successor, I doubt he will pick Ted’s wife. It would be better for Mass. Democrats for him to pick someone who can serve for 30 years, perhaps even himself (he’s about 53).

I would love to be there when Kennedy "passes over". I'd want to look into his eyes at that last moment to see if Mary Joe is waiting for him on the other side.

Miss Vicki will not be the replacement. There will be a special election within 6 mo. after Ted’s eventual demise.In an ironic twist, if the MA state legislature hadn’t panicked in 2004 and took away appointment powers from Romney thinking that John Kerry(LOL) was going to win, Deval Patrick could have picked Vicki or anyone he wanted to. The state legislature will not reverse that, because they all want to move up the ladder......
