I’m so tired of the free traitor argument that we do make stuff here...play games with the statistics...take a trip to any store...try and find American goods...lies, damn lies and government statistical lies.
Yes, we have stopped making low margin retail goods. We make high margin value added goods.
You have a problem with that?
America makes things that other countries cant. Today, Made in USA is more likely to be stamped on heavy equipment or the circuits that go inside other products than the TVs, toys, clothes and other items found on store shelves.
What are you buying in stores that you think should be made in the US? Besides, most of the equipment used in other countries to make products they send to us is made in the US. (high-grade precision robots, laser cutters, etc.)
We make lots of stuff here, especially in small businesses that the unions have yet to ruin.
D’oh. Go to an airport cargo facility and see our high tech radiology equipment and metric equipment being shipped. Go to a sea port and see our Caterpillar, Case New Holland construction equipment being shipped. In Milwaukee our drag-line company is doing well and hiring. (google it - its a big honking machine).
You have a microscopic world view if you rely on your trip to the store.
LOL. In other words, if it's not some piece of consumer junk, it does not count even if it's made in the USA.
Here's a hint. They don't sell these things at the dollar store.
BTW. If you really want to kill American manufacturing, impose trade barriers.
