What are you buying in stores that you think should be made in the US? Besides, most of the equipment used in other countries to make products they send to us is made in the US. (high-grade precision robots, laser cutters, etc.)
I think we should make everything. Why should we have allowed whole industries to be destroyed in this country?...electronics, steel, garments, furniture and now cars...it’s bad for the country. No other country in the world is as stupid as the US...they have trade barriers in place to protect their industry. Free trade is one sided and exists only in the US...we will soon be a joke...can’t even take care of ourselves...in terms of national security, it’s a disaster.
Where will the jobs of the future come from...McDonalds or Walmart? We are losing millions and millions of jobs and have no way to replace these lost jobs with new jobs...we are going to end up with socialism thanks to free trade because all the benefits that used to come with a paycheck are gone...Free trade is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on this country.
Japan makes much of this equipment these days.
Totally untrue. The US is something like 6th in the world (was number one until the '80's) in machine tool production. Behind such world powerhouses like Taiwan and Italy.
Japan's Fanuc, Mitsubishi and Mazak lead the world in the items you mention - I work in the field.
