THE DEADLY TOLL OF VACCINE HYSTERIA
New York Post ^ | 16 feb 09 | SCOTT GOTTLIEB

THE idea that a preservative once used in vaccines is to blame for rising autism rates has just been authoritatively debunked - again. Indeed, some of the key early "evidence" now stands exposed as fake.

Sadly, none of this will kill this myth - because it was never based on good science.

I suppose you think that vaccine induced seizure disorder resulting in severe brain damage is good, too.

>>I wasn’t arguing that. I was pointing out that much of the vaccine danger is urban legend.<<

I immunized my kids. I still don’t believe that drugs should be mandated. I believe education is the way to go.

>>When people spread untruths about the flu vaccine, other people avoid getting the shot, and some of them die. I’d rather see them not die.<<

I don’t get the untruth I’m telling ‘I’ and that is me only, ‘I’ got sick from the flu vaccine. Twice. I know others who had a bad reaction multiple times. I’m not lying, I have no reason to. I’m not telling anyone else not to get it, I’m saying ‘I’ got sick.

They do too. And leave other facts out.

Sometimes I wonder about people on FR.

It’s Government intervention only when it’s what they want.

Nope. I just don’t believe in it.

Then are you saying that ALL vaccines are safe and effective and that the more vaccines one receives, the better?

Is there a possibility that some may pose certain dangers?

As an aside, many years ago I raised and showed purebred dogs. At that time there were many cases of autoimmune diseases showing up.

I, along with another breeder I know, decided we were concerned about all the vaccines we were putting into the dogs.

We both adopted the program of vaccinating the puppies when young but after that, we did not give annual shots. I know we were swimming upstream but there was a certain doctor who was also expressing concern about all the vaccines.

If I were to go back to raising purebred dogs again, I would adopt the same policy now.

There seems to be a lot of doubt out there. Autism is real. If, in fact, there is a possibility of the combined chemicals having an adverse effect on children, why not seperate the shots until it can be completely proven? Personally, I wouldn’t take the chance. I would pay the additional cost of individual shots, as has been stated and spread them out.

The same goes for giving some horse 4 or 5 shots at one time. The individual shot is no problem. But many vets have proven that giving all the shots in one day can and has, killed a horse.

It remains the fact that parents need to make up their own minds and take control of what is going on with their children.

You don’t believe in vaccine damage? You don’t believe that there are people who shouldn’t have vaccines?

Even the vaccine companies agree with that.

First, in the absence of evidence that there is harm I see no reason to change the injections. But there's another reason not to make a change. The more office visits that are required to complete the vaccinations the greater the likelihood that some vaccines will be missed. People move, they forget, they don't realize they need to return for additional shots despite being told they do, etc.

I think that has actually become policy now with dogs? Hasn’t it?

Now all we give yearly is Bordatella, right?

And my nephew suffered permanent brain damage from a DPT shot.

At 25, he functions at a 3 year old level.

Please. Do not be this insensitive. Wait until it happens in your family. I have an autistic grandson. Things are working out better than we had hoped but my biggest concern now is the next generation.

I want to know what caused it. What if my grandson has children? Is it likely to happen again and even get worse?

It's to everyone's advantage to get honest answers and not jump to conclusions or ridicule what others believe.

I know from talking to many parent of children with autism, we continually hear a similar story of the child being completely normal until about the age of 18 months and something happens to reverse the progress.

Why?

I don’t believe in peanut allergies either.

Kids cannot enter school without proof of those shots.
Nothing is missed.

Yep. The lack of concern for those who have been injured or might be sensitive to vaccines is appalling.

Not at all. The less vaccinations, the more kids will die. While there needs to be thousands of cases of measles for deaths to occur, they DO occur. And short of death, measles can be, for some, a devastating disease. The fact that you (and I) survived measles is meaningless to the mother who loses her kid because she did not have him or her vaccinated because of bad information and fraudulent researchers.

Had all of the above and am now immune and have never had to have vaccines.

Having all those before I was 8 plus consuming massive quantities if so called carcinogens in my estimation have made me healthy with a good immune system since I haven't been sick in the last 63 years.

The one thing I haven't had is the flu.

I’m not sure I believe in you. LOL!

Peanut allergies are real. The frequency and severity are in doubt.

I say you stop being insensitive to people whose children die of preventable diseases because you grab hold of junk science.

“It’s Government intervention only when it’s what they want.”

This is a concern I have with vaccines, and there is certainly are competing interests of private vs. public rights (the herd immunization issue).

Certainly the more serious the disease, the more the scale tips.
