How did the prints match if they weren’t the same guy? That is the real problem..

Divorced fathers get such an awful deal, and are treated so horribly by the feminazi courts.

It is nice to one get justice once in a blue moon.

My 2 cents: either they didn’t match and the cops lied (fancy that), or the technician did a poor job.

I am convinced that the entire world is slowly grinding to a halt. One by one all the things that we need to make it on a day to day basis are failing. Nothing ever gets fixed, and every day more things go wrong.

It's only a matter of time until something that fails is linked to a lot of other things that will fail in turn.

I know that every generation since the dawning of time has thought, based on their experience, that things couldn't get any worse, that the end was near. And I know that we're still here. But I also know that you can start putting water in your canoe by the bucket-full and everything will seem to be OK for a long time. But then, at some point, the scale is tipped and all hell breaks loose.

I wonder how close we are to that tipping point?

Both had ten of them, which was good enough for Fingerprint Analyst Officer McAlarney.

Because the officer did the job he’s paid to do. The guy’s arrest was the result of a clerical error.

Mass systems fail massively. That's why communism always fails; big gubmit always fails, and human attempts at world domination fail. This upcoming failure, like the arms race of the 50s, has the potential to unleash world war. And maybe it's time for the end times, who knows? We must all be ready to sacrifice our lives for what is right, in bad times as well as good.

That is why Christ's message is so important. He wants a world in which everyone is devoted to the same ideal of loving and forbearing with people, being honest and taking care of oneself and one's family without coveting your neighbor. It is a mass system only in the sense that in a green forest, most of the trees are green because that's within them, not imposed upon them.

I've been saying for a while that the government should take all the bailout/stimulus money and go and build survival camps (they are, in fact, doing this already). The government should expect 30% unemployment and they should drop all priorities other than national defense and getting basic levels of food and fuel to people. We need to try to limit the number of Americans who starve or freeze to death over the next 5 to 10 years.

Things can come back in time, but for now it's wasted effort to try to stem the tide, slow down the decline, or tinker with things in hopes of fixing the problem.

We need to batten down the hatches and see if we can get 2000 calories a day into people for the foreseeable future.

They didn't match.

Oops.

Name didn't match either. Prints are checked either visually or through a computer matching program. Prints being considered absolute proof of identity came into being years ago. If fingerprinting was a new technology, like DNA matching, it would not be considered foolproof, IMHO.

There may be other stuff not noted in the article, but this shows sloppy work all the way around. Maybe the guy had used other aliases in the past. Maybe his wife, as sometimes happens, had been making false claims against him. Maybe he got into an argument with the cop and the cop grabbed any excuse in a storm to take him in. Those are all maybes, though. It should NOT take three months to recognize a case of mistaken identity.

“Because the officer did the job he’s paid to do. “

It may be done all the time, but police cannot legally run background checks on people without cause. That is a violation of the constitutional right to privacy from the government. Apparently cause was never shown because the guy won his case.

How did the prints match?

My understanding is that there is frequently a judgement call involved.

There is some sort of point system involving particular spots on the print.

A ten point match is a perfect match.

A zero point match is no match at all.

They probably shouldn’t prosecute on the basis of a four point match. Too much room for reasonable doubt.

A lot will depend on the clarity and quality of the prints on file and the prints they take at the scene or from the suspect.

I’ve never slept at a Holiday Inn Express and the above is just the best of my understanding.

If you or I were to make a clerical error that took someones freedom away, you can bet your ass we would be prosecuted, I see no difference. I also firmly believe that all settlements should be paid for by the person or person’s at fault. NOT THE TAXPAYERS. let them live by the same rules as us

Actually he won the case because they rechecked and found that he wasn’t the wanted man.

I was once arrested (at gunpoint) because I looked like someone wanted for murder. I spent the day with them checking and rechecking my fingerprints and other info. They even had my drivers license. Before turning me loose they showed me how closely my prints matched and also showed a mug shot of the wanted man who I also strongly resemble.

I would have arrested me too.
