Obama a 'socialist'?

Well, yes and no. If you mean by that what Americans used to call "creeping socialism" and the Brits called Fabian socialism, yes, Obama is definitely that. Creeping socialism and Fabian socialism is a movement towards socialism by gradual democratic means.

The Earmarks of creeping socialism are increasing government regulation of business, an increasingly graduated income tax, rapidly increasing government spending, and an increasing number of government social engineering projects. Obama's record and public utterances show that he supports all these things — except when the shifting political winds of are blowing contrary to these purposes.

Tidy-minded political political philosophers define socialism as government ownership and management of business and the means of production.

In the present crisis, the government has bought preferred stock in banks, acquired huge blocks of bad mortgages from Fanny Mae, and taken over the management of AIG, a gigantic insurance company. If the government gives up these acquisitions when the crisis has passed, it is not socialism. If the government greedily hangs on to these treasures, it is socialism.

We only know three things on this subject: (1) As a youth and a young man, Obama had two mentors, both of whom were Marxists — Frank Marshall Davis, and The Reverend Wright.

(2) As a young man, Obama was influenced by the writings of the Marxist Saul Alinski.

(3) Obama periodically makes comments that, to my ears, have a faintly Marxist ring such as "economic justice," "coalitions for redistributive change," "spread the wealth,"

Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.

The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.

There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.

The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

We Are All Fascists Now

Newsweek magazine, which has given us many of the most damaging deceptions about America in recent years (remember the “Koran-Down-the-Toilet” hoax?), now weighs in with a pretentious and embarrassingly ignorant cover story, “We Are All Socialists Now.” ...

the state is getting more and more deeply involved in business, even taking controlling interests in some private companies. And the state is even trying to “make policy” for private companies they do not control, but merely “help” with “infusions of capital,” as in the recent call for salary caps for certain CEOs. So state power is growing at the expense of corporations.

But that’s not socialism. Socialism rests on a firm theoretical bedrock: the abolition of private property. I haven’t heard anyone this side of Barney Frank calling for any such thing. What is happening now–and Newsweek is honest enough to say so down in the body of the article–is an expansion of the state’s role, an increase in public/private joint ventures and partnerships, and much more state regulation of business. Yes, it’s very “European,” and some of the Europeans even call it “social democracy,” but it isn’t.

It’s fascism. Nobody calls it by its proper name, for two basic reasons: first, because “fascism” has long since lost its actual, historical, content; it’s been a pure epithet for many decades. Lots of the people writing about current events like what Obama et. al. are doing, and wouldn’t want to stigmatize it with that “f” epithet.

Second, not one person in a thousand knows what fascist political economy was. ...

Freedoms first has recently received permission to hold our protest in Washington DC. Our protest will now be held at the lincoln Memorial Reflections Pool in front of the Lincoln memorial ,on a date that will be released on feb 12 2009.

We find this very interesting because just two weeks earlier Washington told us we could no protest in DC for at least a year and a half . But the day the spendulus bill passes we get a call from Washington inviting us with a choice of dates and locations. Folks we take this as a sign that our country if starting to realise the mistake they have made with putting Obama in office.

We will have live speakers and other entertainment for you.

WE would like to see 1 million supporters attend this protest. It is time to take our country back and make our voices heard.

Why are we protesting ?

1. To get the attention of the mainstream media.

2. To demand That Obama Provide proof that he is eligible to be president.

3. To demand that Congress and the Supreme court uphold our constitution.

4. To inform the public on the issue of Obama’s ineligibility to be president of the USA.

5. To demand that they can not take our constitutional rights away.
