Barack Obama has sent Sir Winston Churchill packing and pulse rates soaring among anxious British diplomats.
A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government's art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.
The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush's tenure.
But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

hang her upside down. No more fitting position for a patriot to speak their mind. Maybe 30-40 million upside down old glories would get the attention of a congress that is hard of hearing.....

Symbolically right on. Bush as a Churchill (minus the communication skill). He was a Churchill in doing what is right. The new guy is a Chamberlain. Does not recognize evil. Cannot identify the enemy.

This person, Obama, has no desire to live in the WH, only Chicago where he has been given a free pass from criminals and crooks who would ruin a republic.
He gets out of the WH because he has no appreciation for the history and loving greatness of a great nation and a home that has housed those who have sweat and toiled for this country.
He hates the WH and all it stands for. I remeber hearing Laura Bush describe the history of every item in the place with pride and reverence.
We have come to Capone style disrespect for a republic.
