Thomas.gov shows the following:

1/6/2009:
Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
2/9/2009:
Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

Does that mean it’s dead in comittee... or being plugged for leaks before being rolled in to the bill?

Apparantly they don't allow remote linking.

To see the various links, you have to go to Their Website

Sorry about that.

I think Itse is actually a NH State Rep. I am not from NH, but seeing from his past legislative record: WHY DON’T YOU NHites “recruit” HIM TO RUN ON THE REPUBLICAN TICKET FOR US House UP THERE! IT SEEMS HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT ONE ;-)!

Is it true you don’t need a license to buy a gun in Florida?
What about if you come to Florida on vacation- can you make a purchase? I need to know...!!!! (real fast)

Long guns (shotguns and rifles)—”MAYBE” IF Florida law allows for transfers to residents of your state. Your home state’s laws may also restrict where you may purchase or receive a firearm transfer.

Handguns (pistols, revolvers)—DEFINITELY NO. Federal law allows for transfer to residents of that state only. You’d have to buy it there and have it shipped to an FFL dealer in your home state and complete the retail paperwork there to receive it (and have any state-required permits, etc.).

Possible exceptions if you claim residency in two states. See the www.atf.gov website; there’s an on-line reference for the various state laws. Local gun dealer (FFL) should also know.

Hope that’s helpful.

Thank you for the comprehensive post on HR 45. It helped me in writing letters to people in Washington who may be of some help in stopping HR 45.

I wonder if they stuck Amnesty for illegal aliens into this monstrosity too.

I've lived in Tampa for my entire life, and have worked in the firearms business for the past three years. You do NOT have to have a license for firearm ownership in Florida. You do, however, need to be able to pass a background check. In Florida, the wait period for long guns is on a county-by-county basis. This means that you may buy a shotgun in Pinellas and leave the same day with it, or you may decide to buy one in Pasco and have to wait three business days before you get to leave with your purchase. It is an automatic three business-day wait throughout the state for pistols.
Hope this helps. At least Florida upholds the shoot to kill rule...it could be worse.

This is not a rumor.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.45.IH:

Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (Introduced in House)

It was introduced to the House on January 6th. Read and literally weep people.

Yes we know about HR45, and no it was not rolled into the stimulus package. HR45 is still in committee with 0 co-sponsors. Just like last session.

I never said it was rolled into the stimulus package. I was telling a freeper that HR 45 was not a rumor, it was an actual bill.

If this is true, I’m a felon as soon as the amnesty period ends. Then what’s left to lose that the state hasn’t already stolen?

I wish we had more like Boehmer...and I wish Snowe, Collins and Specter would take a long walk off a short bridge.
