Whistleblowers at ACORN are demanding that the Obama administration probe allegations of embezzlement, conspiracy, and corruption at the highest levels in the nation's foremost community-based left-wing activist group.
ACORN, long known for its creative approach to voter registration, has received at least $126.4 million in donations and tax dollars since 1993, yet owes millions of dollars in back taxes.
Specifically, the "ACORN 8," a splinter group founded by expelled national board members Karen Inman and Marcel Reid, has asked U.S. attorneys in several states to look into a nearly $1 million embezzlement and the novel business practices of the group that claims to have more than 1,200 neighborhood chapters in 110 cities across the country.
The ACORN 8 claims that ACORN and its 100-plus affiliate organizations, is a long-established, ongoing criminal enterprise that focuses primarily on shakedowns.
The basic facts of the embezzlement are not in dispute. Dale Rathke, brother of founder Wade Rathke, systematically stole almost $1 million from ACORN affiliates around 2000.
When the theft was discovered, the Rathke family was allowed to repay the stolen money on a generous installment plan. Dale even got to stay on as employee of an ACORN affiliate.
Senior officials of ACORN kept the embezzlement and repayment scheme quiet until news of it surfaced last year. The news sent shock waves through the progressive community. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), a major ACORN benefactor, cut off the group. [...]

“creative approach to voter registration” interesting phraseology
And they will be given 4.4 billion tomorrow. What a country!
This organiztion needs to be sued by private citizens for civil rights violations (by skewing the eleciton with illegal voters they are disenfranchising legal voters and therby denying their civil rights).
And sued by local DAs and State AGs for being a criminal enterprise. Use the courts to bog these thugs down.
PRESIDENT OBAMA LIKELY TO CREATE OFFICE OF URBAN POLICY

You have got to be kidding... What a a creative use of vocabulary.
And the big shame (or is it a sham) is that Porkula has how many $millions for ACORN?
Make them spend their “stimulus” money to defend against multiple lawsuits. I like it.
Don't worry, Porkulus will fix that.
Birds of a feather, etc. etc. etc.
Or rebuild their firebombed offices.
I don’t think the general public has a very lofty opinion of ACORN to begin with, and if things continue to disintegrate under the Obama reign they won’t be willing to put up with any more voter registration shenanigans. The feeling I get whenever I am on the net is that the patience of the general public, when it comes to dealing with liberal idiocy, has been stretched to its breaking point. I think that people will begin taking matters such as voter fraud, secure borders, and rampant overtaxation into their own hands.
I believe it is 4.2 BILLION
That's your money. Regardless, they still hate you.
I agree. I know a lot of people think liberals are incapable of rectal cranial extraction but the signs are beginning to show.
I think these people could be engaged with “nusiance” lawsuits by common citizens. You don’t need an attorney to file an suit and if you could find enough friendly courts these scumbags could be engaged and tied up in countless lawsuits.
So basically they are asking the wolf to investigate the chickens.
Excellent. They used the courts to hustle banks, so they should be treated to some of their own medicine.
Good luck with that with this bunch in charge.
LOL! Best line in the whole dam*ed joke!
Ping.
