On Darwin Day, Myths Parade as Fact
CBNNews.com - Scientist Charles Darwin is credited as the founder of the theory of evolution. He was born 200 years ago on February 12, 2009. Abraham Lincoln was born on the same day, but millions think Darwin was the more heroic.
John West is author of Darwin Day in America. He said, "It's almost like Christmas for atheists. They sing holiday songs, sometimes mocking Christmas songs, in honor of Darwin."

There are events like biological arguments against the existence of God, birthday cakes, Darwin impersonators, game shows, and Darwin concerts in some places.
One popular song at such events is "Randomness is Good Enough for Me" playing off the song "Old Time Religion." Darwinists might be less likely to make fun of it if they knew the song's roots are in an African-American spiritual, especially given the link of Darwin's ideas to racism...

...dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.... that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom....
Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, 1863.
But then with me the horrid doubt always arises whether the convictions of mans mind, which has been developed from the mind of the lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would any one trust in the convictions of a monkey's mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?
Charles Darwin, Letter to William Graham, 1881. Died 1882.
Darwin’s Bicentennial Ping!
Evolutionary theory explains why populations change over time. It does not relieve people of responsibility for their actions.
The nonsense that some people make up to discredit a scientific theory that they don't even understand is pathetic.
Sons of the Confederacy Happy Birthday to Abraham Lincoln. Now who the H&$# is Darwin?
I could see how an exposure of Darwin’s fanciful creation myth might upset the Temple of Darwin faithful.
==Now who the H&$# is Darwin?
LOL! He was a med-school dropout turned amateur naturalist who presumed to rewrite the ENTIRE history of biology based on a few minor variations between finches...that’s who!
Looks like a couple of trends to me,based on age and education.
If I were you, I would try to stop understanding the "Darwin faithful." You haven't got a clue how science operates.
In fact, you still don't understand the most basic point. Evolutionary theory is not about creation. It's about change in the gene pool of populations over time.
> It does not relieve people of responsibility for their actions.
Responsibility to whom? For what?
By what objective standard can you measure anybody’s responsibility to or for anyone or anything?
In a pointless universe, what’s the point?
Uh, care to try that one again?
It's not like racists ever used the Bible to justify their racism, especially when it came to slavery.
I understand both Darwin’s fanciful creation myth and the Darwiniac faithful all too well. That is why I oppose them, that is why I expose them, and that is why I am doing my part to depose them.
Ooops! Oh well, 200 hundred years is a nice round number, so it should be easy enough do the math :o)
Part and Parcel of Creationist claptrap. They cannot even do math correctly yet expect their credulous supporters to accept their pronouncements on science that they don’t even begin to understand.
Yes, I’ve seen a colorful parade of myths today, such as:
1) Darwin and Hitler were butt-buddies.
2) If anyone finds any minute error in our current understanding of a scientific concept, then the entire concept must be garbage, and our only choice from there is to take Biblical accounts literally.
3) When Darwin said “survival of the fittest,” he was referring to physical stamina.
4) When Darwin said “survival of the fittest,” he was recommending the deliberate extermination of the “unfit.”
5) Social “Darwinism” has anything whatsoever to do with Darwin’s ideas
6) The ideas of creation and evolution are lethal to each other.
> It’s not like racists ever used the Bible to justify
> their racism, especially when it came to slavery.
Contrast the words of Jesus, “whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” ...
...with the words of Darwin, “The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life”.
It didn’t take long for the racists to switch from the Bible, which anybody with a quarter-brain could see does *NOT* justify slavery, to Darwin, whose works gave “scintific” justification, not only for slavery, but for “Eugenics”, known more commonly today as ethnic cleansing.
And another thing. The Golden Rule predates Jesus, and the particular verse in which it appears in the Bible was credited to Hillel before it was credited to Jesus.
You left out the one about you and functioning gray matter.
