Hi all,
I'm posting this under News/Activism because I'm intending for this to be a brainstorming session about activism - activism with regards to how we, as conservatives, can limit or even end our support for the corrupt, kleptocratic, elitist system we see in our country's government. We have a government that is definitely NOT "of the people, by the people, for the people." Instead, we have a government dominated by left-wing socialists and their RINO lackeys which is in the process of passing a massive pork-spending bill which the people have clearly said they don't want. But the politicians don't care. Unfortunately, there aren't enough "good" politicians - truly conservative - in Washington to be able to mount a serious effort to stop it.
So, what can we the people do about it?
Let's hear some ideas about *real* civil disobedience and other ways we can throw sand in the gears, and create enough of a ruckus that "they" will HAVE to listen to us. I'm talking legal stuff here - nothing about not paying your taxes (and before you start in with the "income tax is voluntary" line, you try to not paying them and see how voluntary it really is), vandalising gov't buildings, etc.
One idea I'd have, expanding on some things floated on FR yesterday: Economic warfare. Don't spend any more than you have to in Blue states or Blue counties. I realise that this may be difficult or even impossible for some FReepers, but for those of us that it is not, we can help cut into the income-by-stealing of Democrat counties.
My family will be buying our groceries across the border in a Red county. I'm going to buy my gas in the county I work in (Red) instead of the one I live in (Blue). Any big ticket items will be bought over the internet, out of state, with no sales tax. No more fast food in Blue counties. No more spending on either luxuries or necessities in Blue counties, as much as we possibly can. My clothing will be bought in a tax free thrift shop, and I'm going to be hitting Ebay, Amazon, and Craigslist for many items, instead of buying them from a big-box store. It's still legal (so far) for you to decide *where* you're going to spend your money, so let's spend it, as much as we can, in places that did not go for Obama (shoot, you may end up saving money b/c of lower sales taxes anywise!)
Any ideas people would like to throw out there, or even reasons why this all would NOT be a good idea?
Sell all your investments to depress the markets. Buy up gold with the money, or if it’s in a 401k or IRA buy gold ETFs or foreign mining stocks or funds. Vote against the Dow by selling anything that holds it.
Your gold will likely be far more valuable than your stocks would have been when we get past the Obama crash.
But why was it that you faulted them for borrowing money in PA? What does her borrowing money have to do with everything?
I have to agree with you. Looking outside of the box is the key! I was just curious. I like good customer service—aldi’s is all about self service, much like most stores, but worse. While I’m not a business owner, I have some friends who are.
If small businesses would take cash and debit only, and not lose business, I’m all for it.
On the other hand, I hate to write this “outloud” but the fresh vegies and fruits from costco last far longer than walmarts produce. Don’t know what to do there.
We do plan to start a big garden this year...that’ll help a lot.
Right on! While I have wanted to quit for quite a while, it was the thought of giving my state and the Feds tax $ that are supposedly targeted towards smoking cessation programs, kindergarten or child health care and yet always end up being thrown into the general budget pot that made me decide now is the time to go for it. The libs always claim that the taxes are to "encourage" people to stop smoking while, hypocritically, they assign budget outlays based on those very revenues.
They are just about to hike the Fed tax so it is my way of saying, "Screw you Obama, your Dem cohorts and the sycophant media that put you there!"

I was looking at something similar last night:

I’d also recommend that we use their system against them. Hawaii’s health care system collapsed in 9 months because parents of insured children took their kids off their private insurance and put them on Hawaii’s state-funded plan.
We need to do the same thing with SCHIP and every other welfare project that exists.
If you’re a union member, start pushing your leaders to do MORE for YOU.
We all know that this system will swallow itself sooner or later. Let’s make it sooner.
I was just relating the facts as she told them. I could CARE LESS that she borrowed money!
When she made her tear jerking shake down plea to the ONE she made appear that she had been thrown out of her house with her son. Turns out her son is a big strapping 30 something year old.
I’m quitting, too. I refuse to pay for this crap if I don’t have to.
Ever notice that in every situation where communist rule has done well for itself, the population has a ready supply of liquor and cigarettes? A sober population is not a supple population.
Taxing liquor and cigarettes into extinction may well backfire on these idiots.
There are rules such that if you can accurately forecast this year against last, you can avoid penalties and shoot for being a few dollars short. File the extension as the legal way to hassle the IRS by sending a shot (admittedly a .22LR) across the bow of the Federal Gov’t. There is also some way to rear load the quarterly payments without penalty. Any way to slow down the revenue and especially make the gov’t do more paperwork. No e-file.
It might be a stretch, but I think the credit unions are probably run more responsibly than banks and tend to have less of the toxic debt that many large banks have.
When did the 30 year old lose his job?
If you are eligible for any freebies take them. Bankrupt the system.
See The Cloward-Piven Plan at the above link. You may rethink that.

The Credit Union still acknowledges that it is my money. They are just using it. We have even gotten two payments in the last year because they had made too much money. Haven’t used a regular bank in 35 years.
When you’re at a large public event or town meeting, who knows whether you own a home or not (unless you’re in a very small town where everyone knows you). You’d be pretty much anonymous.
