U.S. Senate Republicans are not planning to try and use procedural maneuvers to delay passage of a proposed $789 billion economic stimulus bill, the party's leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, said on Wednesday.
McConnell said there was a widespread feeling in the minority party that they "ought to vote and move on." He spoke after congressional negotiators said they had reached a deal on the massive package of spending and tax cuts to try and rescue the flailing economy.

How many Republicans are voting for bill? 3 Senators
How many total votes the democrats need to stop a filibuster? 60 votes
How many votes do the democrats have? 61 votes.
It is a lost battle because we do not have the votes to fillibuster. It is that simple.
Thanks! bfl!
OK and then what? We are down to 38 Republicans and do not have the vote to fillibuster any bill.
Add Mitch to the List of sellouts. Better look into new employment Mitch, your days as a senator are numbered now.
Mitch McConnell, can you spell capitulation?
Mitch McConnell, can you and the GOP wave goodby to conservatives?
Weenies.
Americans will be clamoring for patriotic people to represent them in Congress.
What's the name of that Beatle’s album?
The GOP is a lost cause.
bfl?
bingo. Mitch is taking the right course here. He did fight; the blame is not on Mitch. This is like someone demanding to play a tenth inning when the game ended after nine.
there is NO POINT in stopping it now, guys. game over.
I know it is shock, disbelief, bargaining, whatever those stages of grief are...but the battle is lost. Mitch is right to just move on.
Hussein will be back in a couple of weeks asking for more money: on Monday night next, he will tell the nation this trillion dollar pile of s**t isn’t enough. He will “have a plan” to spend even more.
quit blaming mitch. it is the fault of hussein and three rinos.
Well said.
On the other hand when the democrats were a minority or before 2007 and a majority in 2007-2008 they could not stop some of their Senators and Representatives from voting with Republicans and President Bush on important votes such as funding the war and the voting for the surge. So they do not have the great party discipline that you think.
It is almost impossible to have 100% of your party with you on most issue. You will always find few who will vote against the party.
Agree 100%.
Never, never give in...in anything great or small. There is no tomorrow. The slow decline of the country has begun and we’re witness to it. Revolution is the only solution.
The Pubbies aren't precisely "running away", so let's call it a strategic fall-back.
This way they don't get more blame for "blocking/delaying" this phony shamulus.
I admire Bernard Goldberg very much. Tonight he laid it out on the O'R Show.....the people voted for the Obamunist administration. Elections have consequences. We're seeing them now. Live with them till it's the right time to fight again, whether next week or next month. And fight we will.
But this particular fight is over and our DC side did the best it could. Let's blame the Obabble voting majority in this country for current and future woes, certainly not Mitch McConnell.
Let's never forget the GOP Three Musketraitors, either.

Stop your drama and your stupidity. We do not have the damn vote to stop a filibuster. It is that simple.
Who else is on your list?
Great post.
