GOODBYE, AMERICA! IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED
February 11, 2009
It's bad enough when illiterate jurors issue damages awards in the billions of dollars because they don't grasp the difference between a million and a billion. Now it turns out the Democrats don't know the difference between a million and a trillion.
Why not make the "stimulus bill" a kazillion dollars?
All Americans who work for a living, or who plan to work for a living sometime in the next century, are about to be stuck with a trillion-dollar bill to fund yet more oppressive government bureaucracies. Or as I call it, a trillion dollars and change.
The stimulus bill isn't as bad as we had expected -- it's much worse. Instead of merely creating useless, make-work jobs digging ditches -- or "shovel-ready," in the Democrats' felicitous phrase -- the "stimulus" bill will create an endless army of government bureaucrats aggressively intervening in our lives. Instead of digging ditches, American taxpayers will be digging our own graves.
There are hundreds of examples in the 800-page "stimulus" bill, but here are just two.
First, the welfare bureaucrats are coming back.
For half a century, the welfare establishment had the bright idea to pay women to have children out of wedlock. Following the iron laws of economics -- subsidize something, you get more of it; tax it, you get less of it -- the number of children being born out of wedlock skyrocketed.
The 1996 Welfare Reform bill marked the first time any government entitlement had ever been rolled back. Despite liberal howling and foot-stomping, not subsidizing illegitimacy led, like night into day, to less illegitimacy.
Welfare recipients got jobs, as the hard-core unemployables were coaxed away from their TV sets and into the workforce. For the first time in decades, the ever-increasing illegitimacy rate stopped spiraling upward.
As proof that that welfare reform was a smashing success, a few years later, Bill Clinton started claiming full credit for the bill.
Well, that's over. The stimulus bill goes a long way toward repealing the work requirement of the 1996 Republican Welfare Reform bill and rewards states that increase their welfare caseloads by paying unwed mothers to sit home doing nothing.

I have often thought about joining one of the many social networking sites but have resisted due to issues of personal security.
I am, among other things, a writer that publishes under my real name.
It is not hard to figure out who I really am but why make it even easier? Furthermore, I will be exposing friends and family members to the same sort of whack jobs that I have learned to live with.
No thanks, I have enough problems as it is.
It’s a sad world we live in my FRiend.

Shaw may have used it first, but if he did, RFK stole it from him. I have seen Kennedy saying those words several times over the years.
“GOODBYE, AMERICA! IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED”
Soon we’ll all be like Julio and Henrietta. Help me massaa...
We are virtualy paying for building the tanks which will roll in our lives to force us to buy participating products.
These liberal tanks are the stimulus to get the American leftist idiot voters to keep voting and shopping as they do without changing.
Folkes do not understand that when an army of this sort sends you to do something, it always is an order, not an option, whether it is to dig trenches or to shop.
All government, in its essence, is a conspiracy against the superior man: its one permanent object is to oppress him and cripple him.
If it be aristocratic in organization, then it seeks to protect the man who is superior only in law against the man who is superior in fact; if it be democratic, then it seeks to protect the man who is inferior in every way against both.
One of its primary functions is to regiment men by force, to make them as much alike as possible . . . to search out and combat originality among them.
All it can see in an original idea is potential change, and hence an invasion of its prerogatives.
The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos.
Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it.
And even if he is not romantic personally he is very apt to spread discontent among those who are. . . .
The ideal government of all reflective men, from Aristotle onward, is one which lets the individual aloneone which barely escapes being no government at all.
This ideal, I believe, will be realized in the world twenty or thirty centuries after I have taken up my public duties in Hell.
- H.L. Mencken,
I guess I am a little surprised by the comparison of the stimulus bill to socialism. This is similar to socialism but really what this stimulus bill is THEFT!!! I believe most socialist countries pay as they go along and not burden people that aren’t even born. This is out and out Robbery! Congress thinks that they
We should be at out state capitols with pitch forks.
McCain is correct: I think this can only be described as generational theft. What we are doing is amassing multi-trillions of dollars, said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), speaking on CBSs Face The Nation with Bob Schieffer.

I stopped by the Barnes & Noble to do a little more "advanced recon" earlier this evening.
LAST WEEK when I stopped by, they had a few nice displays, but with only five or six books each, and a few nice little signs -- printed on 8 1/2 x 11 inch color printer pages.
I was concerned. But, that was THEN...
NOW, they have a HUGE TABLE full of Ann's new books, in preparation for tomorrow's event:
4 rows x 11 stacks x 12 high = over FIVE HUNDRED hardback copies of "Guilty"!Plus, they now have a GIANT (but very elegant) BANNER -- six feet wide, and four feet tall welcoming Ann to Barnes and Noble!
(Even Kirk Douglas only sold 200-300 copies when HE was here -- their PREVIOUS record for a booksigning at this location.)
And, they have MOVED her booksigning table from it's previously-planned "train wreck"-in-waiting position DOWNSTAIRS, to an UPSTAIRS location -- just inside a massive "picture window," so that everybody in the mall can see her as they walk by!They are apparently also bringing in LOTS of extra staff, including some big shot REGIONAL mucky-muck.
We are going to BLOW THEIR MINDS with this one."We" being me, and a few of my FRiends. :o)
Wow Ron Dog, that sounds wonderful.
Now that is REALLY nice to hear, Ron....really nice.
Think I’ll go down at ....... 1:00 to buy a book.
KIDDING!!!!!!
:)
Absolutely positively effing outrageous!!!!!!
Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die for it.
I hear you. I had similar reservations. I thought social networks were for kids, and mostly they are. Some commie musician friends we saw on New Years Day talked me into joining for music networking reasons. Once I got on facebook I noticed how easy it was to post things from FreeRepublic and Drudge. I am networking with mostly people who are not interested in politics so I am exposing them to information they otherwise would never see or hear. I post youtube videos that really expose liberals...the sort of stuff the left constantly puts out there to embarrass conservatives via SNL and the Daley show. I really think I'm on to something. I have been fighting hippies every day for about a month and I love it. I have received support from some of my son's football buddies. I understand why you personally do not want to do it but I really think conservatives need to take the fight to the commies. I am really stoked to be on offense. Way more fun.
BUMP!
