The author was on Beck today. She said Daschel had writtin in his book that the next President should sneak health care provisions in some other bill so it wouldn't have to be debated etc. Remember Daschel was nearly the HH Secretary??

In the Stimulus Package the information about the health care information database is in one section, then the section that gives it teeth via the HH Secretary is in another.

This is getting downright WICKED. I hate to say it, but she did so........sorry, but WRITE YOUR SENATORs AND REPRESENTATIVES.

Hey, I just had an idea. We DO care about Porkey Amendments, thank you very much Senator Schumer, we have always cared but until now we didn't think there was anything we could do about it, but our new President has taught us YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN...tee hee:)

Sorry, you gotta have a little comic relief:)

Senator:

We DO CARE about all those little “Porky Amendments”. We care very much, but until now we did not believe we could do anything about it, but our new President has taught us that WE CAN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, and we do not want you squandering OUR TAX DOLLARS on all these not so little “Porky Amendments”.

Furthermore we also do not want you sneaking other programs, like the health care provisions into the bill to avoid having to deal with it independently.

This bill is supposed to be a stimulus package. How about you try creating one of those and see if YOU CAN.

These pork politicians need to be held accountable, if they served since 1970, and voted yes on pork for themselves or their friends and family, confiscate all their money and assets to repay the tax payers, and the Democrat party like Dashle is a goood place to start

the biggest danger of obummer’s health plan is, the electronic access to your records, allows those records to be shipped anywhere in the world (lowest paid workforce) for diagnosis. The implications are huge.

“allows those records to be shipped anywhere in the world (lowest paid workforce) for diagnosis. The implications are huge”

actually your diagnosis will still come from your health care provider....your treatment however may be dictated by a bureacrat who has never examined you....

However you were correct about your private medical records possibly being transmitted offshore. As a professional medical coding analyst, a highly skilled job, the obummer plan may be to have untrained offshore people code your record. Proper coding directly affects how doctors, clinics and hospitals are reimbursed. Without proper reimbursement for services rendered the same doctors, clinics and hospitals will not be able to survive financially. So not only is my job and that of my colleagues in jeopardy, the survival of doctors and clinics and hospitals is in the balance. Imagine how the obummer administration can put certain doctors or facilities out of business by “down coding”. Too much power in the hands of government. This is so very scary.

A Health-Tech Monopoly
Another surprise in the stimulus fine print.

“The “stimulus” is the bill that keeps on giving, not least for journalists. Health-care providers and patients may have a different reaction, however, when they learn that Democrats are using the bill to create a health information monopoly that will help centralize government control of the health-care market.

“The true political goal is cost control. For the Pete Stark Democrats whose ambition is Medicare for all — no exceptions — giving government exclusive control over electronic health information and reporting is a step toward “comparative effectiveness” research. That in turn will be used to impose price controls and deny some types of medical treatment and drugs. And because government is able to skew the whole health system through Medicare and Medicaid, comparative effectiveness could end up micromanaging the practice of medicine.”

Hi fellow HIM professional! I am a medical transcriptionist. I wonder how many people realize their medical information ALREADY goes offshore - India, Phillipines, etc. Some of those records include SS# and other personal info.

Hats off to you gattaca! It’s bad enough that I have to read horrid handwriting, I have great respect for those of you in your profession that have to transcribe the often jarbled dictations from doctors. How do you transcribe heavily accented speech? It’s amazing how some of the transcrition is so very funny and some makes no sense. You must laugh as you type sometimes.

Anyway, basic coding for xrays, lab tests etc are already offshore from some larger facilities. Luckily my hospital has 100% inhouse coding for everything from labs to In-Patient stays. (I am an inpatient coder so I read a lot of transcription and hand-written notes and orders!!!)

have a great day despite these depressing and scary times!

Thank you. Same to you! I do get a lot of foreign docs (we call them ESL, or English as a second language). Very challenging, but so are the American docs who talk so fast and just don’t care. Some of the stuff is funny though. I used to make a good living doing MT, put 2 kids through college, but I make less money now than I did 10 years ago. So much goes offshore now. We have to edit what comes back.

Watch them try to access supermarket and drugstore “preferred customer” card information in as well.
