Change: The First Three Weeks (It's worse than you thought alert)
American Thinker ^ | February 10, 2009 | Randall Hoven

Posted on 02/10/2009 12:19:15 AM PST by Zakeet

Far be it from me to criticize Barack Obama before he's even had a chance to rule. Well, he's had almost three weeks in office as I write, and some patterns are beginning to emerge. Here is a list of accomplishments 20 days into President Obama's first term.

Prior to taking office.

January 21. Day One in office, or "Clean Government Day."

January 22, "Be Nice To Terrorists Day."

January 23, "Be Nice To Abortionists Day."

January 26, "Help the US Automobile Industry Go Broke Quicker Day."

January 27, "Be Nice to Terrorist Lovers and Tax Cheats Day."

January 28, "Bipartisan Schmipartisan Day."

January 29, "No Statute of Limitations on Anything Day."

January 30, "Payback the Unions and Keep Joe Busy Day."

February 3, "Being President is Hard Day."

February 4, "More Socialized Medicine Day."

February 5, "Community Organizing, Low-Flow Coffee-Makers and Trade-War Day."

February 6. "Be Even Nicer to Unions and Terrorists Day."

February 8. "Republican Moderates to the Rescue of the Rescue Day."

I should also report on the progress of the Democratic Congress. Here is what the House did already in 2009:

President Obama also said many words in these first 20 days: press conferences, speeches and op-ed pieces, but I left these out of the above list in order to concentrate on actions rather than words. (To my knowledge, Obama did not complete another autobiography in the last three weeks.)

I probably missed a few things, but I think you get the drift. Undo whatever Bush did. Expect appointees to obey the law, with a mulligan given for first-time offenses less than $128,000. Pay back Democratic special interests like unions, trial lawyers and Planned Parenthood. Define "bipartisanship" as inviting Republicans to lunch and telling them, "I won." Spend really, really huge amounts of other people's money. Make terrorism a law enforcement issue instead of a national defense issue. And watch terrorists and nuclear proliferators be released, from Pakistan to Yemen to Gitmo.

President Obama has lived up to my expectations.

I believe these first 21 days could best be summarized in the immortal words of Mark Steyn, who said, "We have nothing to hope for but hope itself."

President 9/10: "My fellow citizens in the 57 states, your Hussein in the White House is pleased to tell you
that I just signed legislation which outlaws the United States of America forever
The bombing of American cities begins in five minutes.

The writer forgot to add that everyday is “Blame Bush Day”. I swear, I never hear BO talk where he doesn't have a little whiny comment about how it's not his fault, he inherited the problems. I'm so sick of it. It's his stupid dimwitocrat buddies and their socialist agenda that got us into this mess. My TV is sick of me yelling at it.

I would add that the economic collapse is entirely due to pre-election democrat social policies plus democrat banking/mortgage policies, combined with a democrat no-drill-all_Mideast crisis no-oil-all-speculation propaganda campaign that crushed Bush's economic gains since 2001.

Plus a 6000 point drop in the DOW after November 4.

Ronald Reagan’s way, actually respond to frank questions with gifted responses.

My all time favorite Reagan quote, and one of my all time favorite political quotes (in response to a reporter's question, as you say above):

"Why did you fire the air traffic controllers?"

"It's against the law to strike, and they struck. Looks like they quit to me."

LOL!!!

How do we make this a daily running thread?

Things are happening so fast I can barely keep up.

Obama is the consummate void. He comes out and advances these programs, but these programs were dictated to him. Sure he may agree, but he isn't up to speed enough, and doesn't have the adult stature that is require to pull this off.

Time will tell whether he can "pull it off" or not. My concern is these "empty suit" arguments work to his advantage, in that they'll allow him, with the media's assistance, to disassociate himself from whatever disastrous results accumulate from his policies,  by blaming various expendable appointees for failures and/or mistakes.

Didn't we see this process in the case of Jeremiah Wright, when his 20-year association with a toxic racist was sloughed off with the excuse that he himself hasn't verbalized these sentiments, and that he really wasn't attending the church because he agreed with those statements, but for other more innocuous reasons? Net damage to Obama: Zero. Ditto Rezko, Ayers, etc.

Haven't we also seen the affect in the musings of supposedly "right-wing" pundits who've insisted on prefacing criticism of policy with, "I'm sure Obama is a nice man...but.." or some such nonsense? Or in the admonitions to "give him a chance" in the early days after the election?

I see the same attitude now even in his supporters who are having second thoughts about the stimulus bill. But, rather than blaming their cult hero, they blame Congress, ignoring the fact that it's Obama who's using the bully pulpit to ram it through.

Obama issued an Executive Order on "Economy in Government Contracting", which says government contractors will no longer be reimbursed for "any activities undertaken to persuade employees to exercise or not to exercise" the right to organize and bargain collectively.

I believe that saying about a stopped clock applies here.

That particular executive order actually sounds like a good thing to me.

Here’s a curious question: In the month or two leading up to the inauguration, we saw a whole bunch of Predator drone strikes in Pakistan, doing some serious damage to AQ leadership and training. How many attacks have we made there since the inauguration? And what has the effect of this policy been on AQ? To weaken its ability to harm us, or to strengthen it?

I’m just asking.

After all, the highest form of patriotism is dissent.

See tagline.

Interesting that he is keeping a list. I think that our actions on FR are helping to motivate this. People are circulating "the list" and it is now getting wider play.

Don't discount these pings. I will update my list to reflect some of the specifics of this article. It will be posted later today in "The List" thread.

The president is going to have to answer for all of this. We have some power here.
