Specter, Snowe, Collins Anger GOP Base

Collins said she broke ranks with her party because of the progress congressional negotiators had made on the bill.
"Well, I know that some of my Republican colleagues are unhappy with the position that I've taken," Collins told reporters Saturday. "I hope they will look at the fact that we were able to cut $110 billion of unnecessary spending from this bill. I think that's a good accomplishment. I also think that it's important that we do pass a stimulus bill to help turn the economy around."
"Senators Snowe and Collins have worked with President Obama and other senators to reach agreement on a plan that has support from a broad range of groups, including the US Chamber of Commerce and organized labor," says the version of the ad in Maine.
"Call Senators Snowe and Collins today at 202-224-3121. Thank them for their leadership and tell them to keep fighting for a plan to get our economy moving again."
But Collins, at least, has left herself some wiggle room on the final bill that emerges after House-Senate negotiations.
"Well, I know that some of my Republican colleagues are unhappy with the position that I've taken," Collins told FOX News. "I hope they will look at the fact that we were able to cut $110 billion of unnecessary spending from this bill. I think that's a good accomplishment.
Yet she conceded that if a bill comes back from the conference committee with the House "once again bloated with wasteful spending and it's too expensive, then I'll vote against it."

I called and told Senator Snowe to change her party because she has angered all republicans.
Senator Collins doesn’t answer, her box is full.......no kidding!!!!!!!!!
“Why...why...why do we keep getting these idiots killing us like this...they are the Ted Kennedys of the Republiican party...they keep getting elected and are the lowest of the low...”
...I have conservative relatives in ME and they claim it’s the best they can do. I have liberal relatives in ME who hate Snowe simply because of the (R) next to her name. There’s no hope in Maine. Just like there’s none in Murtha’s district in PA. He called his own constituents stupid rednecks, they still voted him back in.
you can call her ME state offices...
They are not "killing" you. The Democrat party is. They have 59 votes. These RINOs are but THREE!
Why doesn’t Specter just change his party affilliation to Democrat and be done with it.
GOP deserves what they get for keeping vermin scum like these RINOs in the party.
And why? So they can say they have x amount of members?
Well they don’t have x amount of members they have Y amount and too many rino turds.
How can we excommunicate them!
Specter, Snowe, Collins: Why do you three cold hearted villains want to deny health care to the elderly? Aren’t they people too?
No. It's a capitulation. It's sucking up to the 'Bama.
She doesn’t care about the country and it’s citizens, she only cares for her colleagues.
Makes you want to knot up a few ropes and find a stout tree, don’t it?
“Its going to be interesting to see what Collins and Snow were promised for this treachery.”
30 pieces of silver???
She was the one that just got re-elected, right? I believe Snow-job is when - next year?
Don’t forget that it was the republicans that spent money like drunken sailors during most of the GW Bush years. Specter, Snowe, and Collins are just continuing that legacy. The only reason that the republicans are now converted to fiscal conservativism is because they are now the minority party.
no
>> She was the one that just got re-elected, right?
Unfortunately, yes.
>> I believe Snow-job is when - next year?
Unfortunately, no. She was last elected in 2006; she’s not up ‘til 2012.
Just as sad: Did anyone expect anything else from these three?
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All she has done is the give the Democrats cover. They will not be calling this a "bi-partisan" bill because 3 (3!!!) Republican senators voted for it.
If these 3 are not removed form the party, I'm leaving it. Plain and simple. If the Republicans can't stand firm on the most important bill in our lifetime, then the Republican party is dead.
Pinging Chairman Steele,
GET THESE ROGUE REPUBLICANS IN LINE, AND DO IT NOW...NOT TOMORROW, BUT NOW...or my limited support for the GOP forever, and forever is eternity...
