Pro-child porn lawyer has a "conversion" so he can be confirmed as DOJ official

David Ogden, nominated by President Obama to help lead the Department of Justice, was grilled by lawmakers yesterday during his confirmation hearing.

Ogden’s nomination has been a source of controversy, due to the fact that he has a long record of arguing against child pornography laws, and for a virtually unlimited abortion license. He has represented clients such as Playboy, Penthouse, and the ACLU.

"You've taken some very extraordinary positions, some left-leaning and unorthodox positions," Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz. told Ogden during yesterday’s hearings.

In the process of the hearing, however, Ogden experienced what Fidelis, a coalition of pro-family organizations, has called a 'Confirmation Conversion' and claimed to have abandoned the library of liberal views he spent his career advancing.

Okey, dokey. He’s using the “I screwed up” excuse so now all can be forgiven.

Hey! It worked for Obama, the Clintons and a multitude of others who are becoming part of the most ethical administration of all. WE ARE NO LONGER PRACTICING THE POLITICS OF PERSONAL DESTRUCTION (unless it's a Republican, a conservative talk show or prolife adherents). Get with the program! The re-education camps are awaiting those who do not comply.

While he was in private practice, Ogden filed a brief before the U.S. Supreme Court in support of child pornographer Stephen Knox. The brief was on behalf of the ACLU and others. Knox had been convicted of federal child pornography offenses involving videos of several children. Though the children were not completely naked in the videos, they were deliberately posed so that the focus of the depictions was on the children's genitals, covered or partially covered by underwear or other cloth. This is the kind of material that could only appeal to pedophiles. The brief asserted that such sexual exploitation of children was protected by the First Amendment!

Federal child pornography law prohibits “sexually explicit conduct” involving children, including video or photographic depictions focusing on the “lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area.” The Knox brief filed by Ogden expressed concern that, “Publishers, producers, retailers and librarians, faced with the prospect of child pornography prosecutions based on images of clothed minors limited only by a subjective test of lasciviousness, would have only one rational response: self-censorship.” Is that too much to ask — that they remove sexually exploitive videos with children posed in a lascivious way?

God help us with all these immoral bastard that obama is trying to pass off on us..and is not wasting any time doing it.

I guess lawyers screw up but judges never do. When he becomes a justice department official, he'll become infallible.

I can only think there is some divine intervention in the wings. 0bama is like a parody of evil - no hiding, no veil, no weasel words - just plain evil.

From an email I got today.

"President Obama has nominated David Ogden to a high-level position in his sub-cabinet -- not a position in agriculture or defense but the number two position at the Department of Justice, the Department charged with prosecuting adult and child pornography violations.  The porn industry is so excited by the prospect of having one of their allies in this key position that they have not been able to contain themselves.  XBiz, a leading 'adult' newswire, called Ogden a 'strong pick,' and porn attorney Colin Hardacre of Los Angeles said Ogden's nomination is 'a good sign for the adult industry.' ..."

Re: A Man Who Thinks Child Porn is Free Speech Is Not Fit for Justice
Date: February 23, 2009

Personal note:
Read this carefully and join with me in calling your U.S. Senator. We must do our best to stop this nomination now. If we do nothing, we will have no one else to blame other than ourselves for not doing our part when we could have.
The implications of this pornography attorney being placed as the second in command at the U.S. Justice Department are more than I can possibly imagine, but what I can imagine is enough to make me fear for children and their innocence and for their protection and the further "pornification of America"!

Remember, the vote on David Ogden is this Thursday in the Judiciary Committee.  Call your U.S. Senator, 202-224-3121.
