Why There Won’t Be a Revolution

Why There Won’t Be a Revolution

Americans might get angry sometimes, but we don't hate the rich. We prefer to laugh at them.

The poor you will always have, the good book says, but as for the rich man, he will wither away like a delicate flower in the midday sun.

The first prediction has certainly been borne out, but the second part (James 1:11) had not yet come to pass by the Panic of 1907, when Theodore Roosevelt warned of a coming reckoning against the "malefactors of great wealth."

Nor by 1990, when former Nixon aide Kevin Phillips predicted that Americans would rise to extract revenge on "the rich who got the benefits of the go-go years" of the 1980s.

As late as 2001, no less an authority than, uh, NEWSWEEK wrote in the wake of 9/11 that "the arrogant wheeler-dealer ordering a $600 bottle of wine with dinner … has vanished utterly as an icon," which remained true until approximately 2002.

Well, listen up, you rich guys, this time we really mean it. The president himself is repelled by your rapacious greed, your kids are ashamed to admit that their mom is a banker, even your girlfriends are sick of your whining about your bonus, and you're going to have to learn to live on $500,000 a year like a normal person.

Oh, and by the way, nice watch. Is it Cartier?

t will be the bureaucrats and liberals I’ll be after.

There are 2 in Maine that deserve a spanking for sure. I cannot believe those twin traitors.

That’s the deal, we’d gladly say good riddance with a handshake to those leftist states that wanted to secede.

However, not so with the left. It is antithetical to their ideology to just let someone be. The thought that anyone would be living outside of their control just wouldn’t be fathomable.

And it wouldn’t be because they would know they didn’t have any producers to leach off of - it would be their control centered ideology that would make them try to force us back under their control.

Meanwhile, there are 28 states that have authored sovereignty resolutions - see WND.com for the story.

“There won't be a revolution, we'll become like Argentina, and Absolute Zero is our Peron.”

“And the Money kept rolling in (and Out).” from “Evita”:

And the money kept rolling in from every side

Eva's pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in you don't ask how
Think of all the people guaranteed a good time now...

Rolling, rolling, rolling (repeat)
Rolling on in

Would you like to try a college education?
Own your landlord's house, take the family on vacation?...

And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the poor to the weak to the destitute of all
complexions
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in
the way...

...Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling in and out”

True, that is why you should not make a target of yourself. Even the illegals can do it.

IMHO, the gray panthers and WWII babies a/k/a/ “Baby Boomers” aren't going to let socialism happen to their children and grandchildren.

LOL! Dream on. I've yet to hear anything other than, "I'm glad I'm in my older years so I don't have to deal with this mess."

Yeah. The mess created on THEIR watch!

They will have their luxury retirement. They will guiltily buy their grandkids a new car to assuage their guilt, but that's it.

They got theirs. F us who follow.

“You’re counting on the Baby Boomers to save America from socialism? Tell me you’re kidding.”

There is always someone willing and raedy to start the boomer bashing. Hey fool, not all boomers are worthless liberals.

Exactly. The rich dont make me want to rise up in righteous anger. The corrupt political scum from both parties that infest DC like rats makes me want to do that. Its time to wipe away all of the political pork, massive bureaucracies, and traitorous liberal media and restore the Republic to what the Founding Fathers intended.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Playboy magazine used to rank the #1 drinking schools in the nation. The University of Idaho always ranked #1. One year everyone rushed out to get the copy with the new year’s rankings. U of I wasn’t #1. The Horror! It wasn’t even ON THE LIST!!! WTF!!!

There was a note at the bottom. It said “Normally the U of I would rank #1, but we have decided it was unfair to rank professionals with amateurs”.

I have been to N.D. I KNOW why it is referred to as a Great PLAIN State. :-)

My “sympathies” to North Dakota. LOL

Those states no doubt have a lot of deadbeats in them, but it would be hard to argue they are "deadbeat" states since 6 of the 9 states you list pay more to the federal government than they get back (RI breaks even, and MD and VT get more back).

It would be expensive for the conservative states to go it alone. Texas is the only state in the country that pays more than it gets back that didn't vote for Obama, and it was pretty close ($0.94 cents back on every dollar paid).

The problem is that many of the most productive people (who still lean Republican) work in urban areas where they are surrounded by millions of deadbeats, and that the Republican Party has done an increasingly poor job appealing to such traditionally very Republican voters.

I wouldn't assign your sentiments to all of that generation (of which I am about to join in retirement). However, I would assign it to a very large part. There are still 'some'left who actually will sacrifice for their heirs and for the general good of society. But, there are too damn few of them.

You only have to take a trip to your local social security office to see that "Americans" aren't the ones being processed and served here.

If the revolution came down to a shooting war we have the guns and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights on our side.

Oh for God's sake, mountainlion. Don't be a fool.

Such a fail-safe solution to preserve rights was eliminated for all time at Appomattox in 1865.

We don't have a country of hunters who could march for years in bare feet under a Gen Lee.

There will be a nuclear or biological crisis which will make 9/11 look like a suburban house fire. The US Military--most advanced in the world, true to their individual honor and duty to the country as it is, will rightly maintain discipline and and follow orders to restore order.

Then, once immediate order is restored and the rank-and-file even have the chance to have second thoughts about their orders....it will be too late.

The coming revolution will look more like Waco than Lexington Green, and the outcome will be sadder than Gettysburg.

I’m not bashing all Boomers, but you’re deluding yourself if you think your generation will pull us back from socialism. The Boomers as a whole are certainly more statist than any generation before them; it remains to be seen whether subsequent generations will continue this trend or take another approach.
