Vice President Joe Biden acknowledged today that Democrats could face political repercussions in 2010 for their support of the $900 billion economic stimulus package.
But when we do [approve it], Im sure youre going to be nailed in ads, Well they voted on that 30 second ads, Biden told roughly 200 members of the House Democratic Caucus gathered here for their three day annual retreat. I promise you as [a colleague] once said to me, Ill come campaign for you or against you, whichever will help you the most in your district. And so will the president because, again, were all in this together.
The vice president also offered some trademark candor about the prospects of success. He recalled a recent White House meeting with the president and senior aides in which they were discussing the many challenges the country faces. If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, theres still a 30% chance were going to get it wrong, was his message at the meeting.
Biden warned that the consequences were too great for the country to allow politics to prevent action. The only thing we can get wrong is not reaching a consensus among ourselves and demonstrating to the American people that were thinking small and politicallyyou [House Democrats] have not, youve thought big, he said. All but 10 House Democrats voted for the bill.
Echoing President Barack Obamas remarks here Thursday, Biden aligned this moment with other great challenges the country has faced. Not since World War II has a caucus gathered with so many challenges facing our country and the stakes so high, he said. The slope is pretty steep. The opportunities are great.
Biden noted that history suggests many of the smart decisions made to aid the nation were unpopular, and that...

The VP is already more concerned about the 2010 elections than he is the future of the country in which he isn't the second-most powerful person. Scary times ahead, so buckle up and button down.
“Voted on 30 second ads”
Yea, JOE... how do you think You and MULLAH OBAMA actually WON??
"I won. So, let the murderous terrorists of September 11, 2001 and the USS Cole go free. This I command!"
"90 percent of the game is half mental"
-- Yogi Berra 19??
"That restaurant is so crowded that nobody ever bothers to go there anymore"
-- Yogi Berra 19??
Who cares what the voters (aka peons) think anyway :(
I have had enough of this crap, who damn money do they think they are spending anyway, the dumb bastards!!
Americans had better make them pay for this with their hides in the next election, of I will forever have lost my trust in America!
**Biden should also note that history suggests many of most ill-informed and destructive decisions made were also unpopular.**
And were also made by Democrats.
Pass it! and add more PORK to it in committee! Let this be Obama’s and the democrat’s baby with no PUBE support. Let it all live or die on Obama. And if it works, Obama will be the kING OF THE WORLD!
Did anyone else think of Joe Biden when they watched Alex Baldwin’s Lion in Madagascar 2?
**What a bunch of arrogant bastards!**
This is the only reason we don’t run for OFFICE. YOur first line would be my WAR CRY, so I wouldn’t last thru the first DEBATE!!
He use to be my senator. Now you all get to share my pain. Bwa Ha Ha.
Yep No clue. They are all hooked on DEMOCRACK.
That’s actually pretty scary....I think we’re just a few years from when he’ll stop making speeches and writing Op Eds....and starts commanding allegiance.
It is unreal how the northern part of Delaware just idolizes this clown. And when he ran for VP, all he kept saying was that he was from Scranton, PA.
He hasn’t lived in Scranton for 56 years.
He is so far above his pay grade now, it is laughable.
Now his idiocy is inflicted on the whole country.
Why doesn’t someone ask Obama this...since you are so sure this is the answer to our economic problems despite the fact that the overriding majority of people don’t agree with it...agree to this: If by next year this time the economy is not substantially better, will you promise to resign?
