I agree 100%, but THEY aren’t representing us either!

They FAIL to act in our best interest, Snowe, Collins and Spector NEED TO BE KICKED OUT OF THE GOP. Otherwise the GOP is NOT representing me and I am going Independent.

If THIS is the BEST that the damned GOP can do, then I am OUT.

Uncle Miltie to bestintxas

This should be the Republican bill: 1 Sentence.

“Congress hereby declares a National Dividend in lieu of Pork in the amount of $9,000 per taxpayer.”

Run that to the rooftops!

We are in for rough times anyway.

No plan can get us out without some major pain.

But this plan would at least give people a little breathing room, time to prepare.

That would certainly continue some middle class support for the kinds of political parties and government we have. It would also give us a little more time before the big fall, but the fall would be even further. Whatever...

Here's another one that should be close to the hearts of middle class folks with incomes under $250,000 per year.

US Economic Stimulus Bill Nears Final Vote (It's still $900 billion! GOP time to filibuster)
voa ^ | 2/5/2009 | voa

Excerpt:
"The final vote is looming after senators unanimously approved an amendment Wednesday to provide a $15,000 tax credit for homebuyers.

The provision, sponsored by Republican Senator Johnny Isakson, would add $19 billion to Mr. Obama's $900 billion plan.
"

I like the increased new homeowner credit bump to 15000 - I wish they would do the same (albeit lower) for cars and other large durables and/or investments into retrofits to ones existing home (i.e. solar panels, etc). My biggest fear is mass unemployment. When people are unemployed it has a dramatic effect on all elements - crime, health, education, imcrease in birth rates (many not prepared for), etc.

It’s so twisted. I mean... what else is there to say. I know it’s my money, but it shouldn’t have left my hands in the first place.

Now that it has left, it is gone forever..spent,wasted, and down the rat hole. Replacing it means borrowing it from China at higher interest rates that your grandchildren will pay, or printing it, making China mad and your pension worthless.

One day we will see that you can’t fix a debt problem with more debt.

If this passes, I’m going to use mine to buy a non-crumbling bridge into the next town, since Thune’s bill strips away all the highway money. Since since the Minneapolis collapse, that bridge really worries me.

If anyone wants to pitch their tax rebate in, maybe we can build a second lane. And we can charge tolls since we can staff the booth (12-hour shifts).

Sounds reasonable.
Well, compared to the Obama Plan, anything would sound at least somewhat sensible.

Anything that actually helps the economy is not what Obummer or the RATS want

They're not entertaining alternatives, such as this thread's idea. Here's another - deport illegals (unemployment would go down, no?)
