Monday Night Political Football: Obama Demanding Lots of Prime Time from Whining TV Networks
NewsBusters ^ | February 6, 2009 | Tim Graham

Washington Post TV writer Lisa de Moraes reported Friday that Team Obama is demanding a lot of free TV space in prime time in the next few weeks: a Monday night press conference, a "stimulus" push on the Monday night after that, the 16th, and the State of the Union on Tuesday, February 24. (What about House, and The Bachelor?) Network suits are already whining, but are too afraid of pulling out the Just Say No card:

President Obama's desire to talk -- and talk, and talk -- to the American public could cost broadcast networks millions, and millions, and millions of prime-time TV dollars.

Broadcasters are bracing themselves for the likelihood of three prime-time interruptions in three weeks, totaling at least three hours of prime time -- and ad breaks -- yanked.

"His economic stimulus package apparently does not extend to the TV networks," one network exec noted.

Obama's reps have alerted broadcasters that the president will hold a news conference Monday, according to network execs. It's expected to eat up the first hour of prime time; that alone could cost broadcasters more than $9 million in lost ad revenue....

"Notice they're not going on Friday or Saturday," one network exec complained. "They're . . . preempting our better shows. You're not happy to lose a 'House' if you are Fox, or two of the better comedies at CBS, or 'The Bachelor' at ABC -- we're all going to take a bath."

So skip them? The networks were not afraid to tell President Bush that his political salesmanship wasn't worth pre-empting in prime time. But none want to "incur the wrath" of Obama (and unlike Bush, it's not so easy to stiff the president unanimously in an act of ideological solidarity)

“Let’s all remember how often the TV networks refused President Bush’s requests for airtime.”

Yup. Because they claimed his talks would be political.

The people prone to fits of swooning, fainting etc. while Obama talks are the ones that supported, in his mind, his god-like image of himself. To get that kind of servile worship, Obama used NLP techniques (hyponotic suggestion) which required him to speak very slowly and to repeat certain language in a structured way - over and over for a minimum of 20 minutes and this is why he used a teleprompter (and had his own Comcast channel and 30 minute infomercial before the SuperBowl). As his popularity falls away, he may resort to his NLP techniques again. If so, he’ll need long blocks of air time to firm up his false image. Here’s a doc that talks about Obama’s NLP - if anyone is interested in reading it, the first 15 pages can be skimmed but the rest of the document bears close reading, including the footnotes. http://www.pennypresslv.com/Obama’s_Use_of_Hidden_Hypnosis_techniques_in_His_Speeches.pdf

People will be fed up at the end and switch to other channels that are not carrying him. It is human nature.

I am sick of theis turd foisting himself incessantly on the American public.

The more he's out there, the more people may start seeing what he's really all about.

"O"-verexposure could actually work in favor of those of us who want our free nation back. We just need to give it a little time.

Message for Obama, quit your stinking childlike stupid air time. You are making America sick.

Or rather sicker than we were before. Damn, that stupid nitwit.

I am sure you are right.....but, I am sick of him.

It is hard to watch the arrogance and bald faced lies spew out of his purple lips.

Maybe they can write him into a script of “24”.

Jack: “Mr. President, the prisoner knows where the nuclear bomb is, but he won’t tell us”

Messiah: “Ask him nicely”

Jack: “I’ve already got his testicles hooked up to the car battery”

Messiah: “I was saving that for Limbaugh”

Jack “Mr. President, we’re running out of time. We have to do something”

Messiah “Call you senator and tell him to pass the stimulus”

Oh, believe me, I understand. The very sound of his arrogant voice grates on my nerves.

I hardly ever watch the news anymore because of him. I just get my news off of FR and a few other sources now.

Remember the lesson of communism, those who control the media control political thought and the very structure of our brains.

Great. Just what we need: three straight weeks of Obama pounding away in prime time about how incredibly, horrifically awful the economy is—and how dramatically worse than even that it’s about to become.

The misses and I will be watching the Westminster Dog Show. We love competition and enjoy how the dogs duke it out in the ring. My favorites are Beagles, Dachshunds, and Shiba Inus.

Those who control the media control political thought

Wonder where we are headed? Read this story from two years ago:

Chavez show to be broadcast daily

For those not aware, Chavez runs his mouth for 4-6 hours each week, with daily episodes on his whim. There is no set time slot -- it is over when he says it's over!

I have no sympathy for the networks. They made Hugo 0bama, they have protected him, worked overtime to get him elected and they have spent since 11-4 covering for him, now they have to live with him. This is truly a case where the biter gets bit. Good!
