Just got off the phone with an influential Republican senator. I asked how things stood with the stimulus, and he answered instantly, "They've cut a deal with three of our guys. They're delaying us from offering amendments. I suspect that as soon as they've got it written, they will offer it as an amendment, vote on it, and that will be it." He didn't have details on what the deal might be, but most Republicans seem to suspect it will involve relatively small cuts and very little change in the price tag of the bill from the House version that will be touted as a major bipartisan compromise. My senator suspects hopes? that no more than four Republicans will vote for the bill.

Thanks for providing the numbers. I'm calling!
You’re missing his point. He thinks you should blame conservatives for the bill.
“If I were Steele I would call the 3 suspects up and tell them that support would go to another candidate in the primary, and even if they won their primaries, he would make certain they lose. Rather have an enemy you know that a scumbag you cant trust.”
I agree.
This is the first big test for Steele, can he manage the rinos?
As an aside, this is suicide for any Republican who’d vote for this turd of a spending bill. It WILL fail. And those that vote for it, will be remembered, because the pain will be ongoing. Americans have a short attention span, but pain has a way of making you keep focused.
give us names or this is a bs story.
I just called and the dude sent me to a mailbox that was full!!
The fix is in!
Four-month high for silver today — apparently smart money is buying PM’s thinking Porkulus is a done deal.
I agree names first before we jump the gun..
It is not only suicide for the rinos..it is suicide for the RNC because many of us will again be so pissed off that we will not send them money!
It hurts the whole RNC!! Which is not good when we need to win in 2010!
Sorry pal. Here's the cold water in your face.
We made this bed.
You don't run in after the fact and act all shocked and surprised that a FRIKKIN MARXIST is acting like a MARXIST.
VOTE. VOTE. VOTE. And DO NOT EVER AGAIN let some dumbass tell you that they're going to teach the GOP a lesson by letting the Marxists take over the direction of the country for four years.
Yes, Specter is explicitly mentioned in a related NRO post.
They are messing around with 3/4 of a trillion dollars, and all they have to do is come up with enough pork to bribe three or four traitor Republicans, who are never hard to find.
Thats my guess too. However, THEY HAVE THE VOTES ANYWAY. None of this matters.
How many republicans will it take voting for this for it to be called bipartisan? Don’t think 3 would qualify.
Remember Obama expected 60 senators to vote for it before he took office, bill on his desk. He was trying the Bush game of "pass it no time to think about it", but Republicans who got burned a few times have no reason to play that game again.
Anxious to find out who they are and what their price was.
Deals? Pay to play baby! Get used to it for the next four years. We have all just woken up in United Socialist State of Chicago. If they are gonna pay to play, can it be like the lottery or bingo. You know if all your numbers match up you get to add personal pork projects. Instead of BINGO we can use cards that have BLAGO at the top. Anyone hear B62? Anyone? Rush, here is your new game for the next four years.
Ahem... Boxer and Feinstein from the Great State of California. We take backseat in stupidity to no one...
(actually Boxer alone, with her negative IQ, more than wipes out Feinstein's occasional foray's into sanity...).
Looter traitor!
Marble mouth moron!
So pissed off right now!
Odd, because Republican amendments are being passed. Democrats have heard from their angry constituents, and are buckling under pressure and kicking Harry Reid in the false teeth.
