WASHINGTON – The Army is investigating a stunning number of suicides in January — a count that could surpass all combat deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan last month.
According to figures obtained by The Associated Press, there were 24 suspected suicides in January, compared to only four in January of 2008.

What is it with the AP and army suicide stories? Looks like that’s the only story about the Army that can print. But when it comes to Army retention and us winning in Iraq, they STFU.
Maybe it’s the Gitmo closing thing....
Seriously, if I fought a war against terror, only to have our new commander start capitulating to the forces I fought, I would be very depressed.

My son’s friend’s husband killed himself last weekend. Only 23 years old. They didn’t see it coming at all. They were in the middle of a divorce. She said he was very different when he got home, after serving two tours in Iraq, and actually wanted to go back for a third time, but they wouldn’t let him. He had been wounded from shrapnel. He left behind an 18 month old daughter.
Terribly terribly sad.
I hear that they have been up since November 4, 2008.

Son just got out of the navy in December. No way he was re-upping only to serve under the zero.
A story about a genuinely alarming spike in military suicides and 95% of responses think it’s a reason to joke. Pathetic.
This is what happens when you do not prosecute traitors and execute them...This all goes back to the vietnam war. Jane Fonda and hers, and Bill Ayers and his etc.

Army reports alarming rise in suicides last month.....
Suicides nationwide happen to spike more in the winter months and after the holidays.....the army is a reflection of the same trends occuring across the US.....
I was thinking along the same lines. My take is that the annointment of O (or the coming annointment, as would be the situation before Jan. 20), and all the attendant media hype about it, could have been the tipping point for some of these suicides, though not the only cause.
