Obama Takes Blame as Daschle Withdraws Nomination for HHS Post Former Senator Says He 'Will Not Be a Distraction;' Obama: 'I Screwed Up'

WASHINGTON -- Former Sen. Tom Daschle, under fire for his failure to pay more than $140,000 in taxes and interest on time, withdrew his nomination to be secretary of health and human services, saying he had lost the confidence of the Congress.
President Barack Obama is taking responsibility for mistakes in the handling of the tax controversy that led to Mr. Daschle's withdrawal, saying: "I screwed up."
The president did a series of back-to-back television interviews in which the subject of failed nominees was a top subject. Mr. Obama told NBC, "I'm frustrated with myself" for unintentionally sending a message that there are "two sets of rules" for paying taxes, "one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks."
"I take responsibility for this mistake," he told Fox News.
The decision shocked Capitol Hill, where Democrats were rallying around his embattled nomination, and marked a sharp setback for President Barack Obama, who had hoped that Mr. Daschle could take the lead in pushing through Mr. Obama's ambitious plan to remake the U.S. health-care system.

Would this be tolerated under Pres. Bush? Would this be tolerated if you owed taxes? How is it that unindicted criminals are running the country? Keep the pressure up, call for investigations, indictments, penalties and prison.

So it boils down to who owes the money for Obama, not the amount. So when does he admit the same mistake with his Confirmed Sec. of Treasury Tim “the tax man” Geithner?
Obama just claimed in a interview with ABC news ...that there is no pork left in the bill....I smell a challenge...to dig in that thing and prove him wrong.
