Your newspaper's comic page isn't even immune to the news of economic hardship the country is experiencing - iconic cartoon character Dilbert was let go from his job.
Dilbert creator Scott Adams appeared on the Feb. 2 CNBC Reports' to explain why.
"Well, you know his company was slowing down just like everybody else's company has been slowing down and he didn't have much to do, so he started a side business in his cubicle - which is what a lot of people did, including myself and he got caught," Adams said. "So, it just seemed like a good time to downsize him and let him see what it's like to try to get a job in this economy."

0bama’s fault. Dilbert probably voted for 0 in Indiana, New Mexico, NC, VA, and OH.
Dilbert never was. It was always cutting commentary and was frightening on how close it was to reality.
That stupid slacker should've been fired a long time ago...

I think it hit more with those of us who worked in big corporations though.
I worked at BP America. Dilbert was SPOT ON!!
OK, time for Best Dilbert Moments at Work.
I’ll start.
Annual performance review (mostly a formality at my place) The boss is sitting at his desk telling me how wonderful I am. He pulls a big glob of Silly Putty out of his deska nd starts playing with it. He actually had it for a purpose cause we were thinking of using a product like it as a flex agent in one of our products.
He makes something flat and flesh colored and put it up next to his ear like a big huge ear.
I leaned back and called him Dilbert. The review was about over at that point cuase we were laughing too hard.
0bama’s Fault!
My favorite Dilbert:
His boss comes up to him and complains that his laptop is locked up again. Dilbert tells him to hold it over his head and shake it. He does, and says “Hey, it’s working again!” As he walks away Dilbert’s buddy asks him “Are you ever going to tell him it’s an Etch-A-Sketch?”

Yes, I worked over forty years ago in offices without cubicles, just a lot of desks in a big open room. I can quote examples of stupid managers who were as idiotic as anything I ever saw in a Dilbert strip. Even the name Dilbert was a synonym for stupid when I was in the Navy back in 1962. It seems there was another character by that name in an old strip, I never saw it but was told about it by other Seamen. I used to wonder if Adams got the idea for the name from the older strip.
It’s a known fact the Scott Adams doesn’t write his strip, and probably never did.
He just illustrates his email.
email from his boss?
I haven’t read Dilbert regularly in ten years.
