Dodd's Peek-A-Boo Disclosure (A Republican would be behind bars)
WSJ ^ | Feburary 3, 2009 | Editor

Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd has finally, sort of, kind of, ended 193 days of stonewalling about his sweetheart loans from former Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo. At least he did if you were a fast reader and were one of the few reporters he invited to his Hartford office yesterday to review -- but not copy or take -- more than 100 pages of documents related to his 2003 mortgage financings through Countrywide's "Friends of Angelo" program.

These are the files that Mr. Dodd pledged to make public after the news broke last summer that the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee had received preferential treatment from Countrywide. At first, Mr. Dodd denied everything. Later, he conceded that he'd been given special treatment but thought it was "more of a courtesy."

Heck, we'd all love the kind of courtesy that would have saved Mr. Dodd $75,000 over the life of the two loans he refinanced to the tune of $800,000, according to an analysis by Portfolio magazine. The savings came from rock-bottom interest rates and a free "float-down" -- the right to borrow at a lower rate if interest rates fall before you've closed on the loan.

......why is he still hiding it? Perhaps because Mr. Dodd is a crook but he is a Democrat and that makes whatever he did a good thing.

Glen Beck was lampooning Dodd last night, and it was a riot! He was challenging people to find out how quickly they could find their mortgage papers. Average time was about 45 seconds.

Normal people can find their mortgage papers in minutes, because typically those papers are among the most important in their possession.

After six months, Dodd finally sort of coughed up his.

And like a typical demoKKKrat, he'll get a free pass from the liberal establishment media.

It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native criminal class except Congress.

That’s “The Honorable Senator Chris Dodd” to you peons.

One the biggest jokes in the history of the world is calling any US Senator , “The Honorable”.

He’s hiding it the same way John effin Kerry hides his discharge papers. This is outrageous, pitchfork and sickle time. Ironically, I hear no cries of ‘culture of curruption’ coming from the crone of the House. We are never going to get better unless the criminals are removed from office, all of them, both sides of the aisle (although I can’t recall anytime in histroy when so many from one party had so many corruption issues at the same time) Someone posted here yesterdaay that we the people should deman an audit on all Congresscrtters taxes. We could [probably pay down a significant portion of the national debt with ‘honest mistakes’

"What quid pro quo? It was a lousy VIP mortgage from my pal, Angie Mozilo."

How does Angelo Mozilo get into his $170,000 Lamborghini with Dodd in his back pocket?

=================================================

WHO LED US DOWN THE DISASTROUS ROAD TO TRILLION DOLLAR BAILOUTS? Angelo Mozilo, chairman and chief executive of Countrywide Financial----the biggest American sub-prime mortgage lender, was a step away from bankruptcy when Bank of America paid billions to settle investigations by various attorney generals for Countrywide's mis-selling of risky loans to thousands who could not afford them.

Mozilo ran a "VIP programme" that provided loans on favourable terms to influential figures including Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate banking committee, the heads of the federal-backed mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (that taxpayers were forced to bailout) , and former assistant secretary of state Richard Holbrooke (now in Obama's admin).

CHRIS DODD Since June, Sen Chris Dodd (D-Conn) has faced an ethics inquiry over allegations that he received preferential treatment on two mortgages in 2003 from Countrywide Financial. And then came the dramatic financial meltdown last month, placing Dodd at the center of a controversial $700 billion financial rescue plan.

As a member and later chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, Sen. Dodd shoulders a good deal of the blame for the collapse of the national housing market, the subprime-mortgage-market meltdown and the convulsions on Wall Street which is costing taxpayers billions.

Reams of legislation Dodd has written or advocated affecting the housing, lending, insurance and securities industries have drained hundreds of billions out of the economy, ballooned the federal debt, cost tens of thousands of people their jobs and driven hundreds of thousands of homeowners into foreclosure, bankruptcy or both.

For his efforts, Sen. Dodd has been rewarded in the 2008 election cycle alone with $7.65 million in campaign contributions (he took in $11.7 million in all) from the securities, insurance, real-estate and commercial-banking industries. With $165,400, Sen. Dodd also tops the list of members of Congress who took campaign cash from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac since 1989. Sen. Barack Obama, the self-styled agent of change, is a distant second at $126,000....

SEN DODD'S CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS

Citigroup, $310,294;
SAC Capital Partners, $282,000;
United Technologies, $263,400;
AIG, $224,678;
Bear Stearns, $205,600;
St. Paul Travelers, $205,400;
Royal Bank of Scotland, $203,750;
Goldman Sachs, $175,600;
Morgan Stanley, $155,000;
Credit Suisse, $154,550;
Merrill Lynch, $134,950;
The Hartford, $94,350;
Bank of America, $91,300;

==============================

For nearly a year and a half, Countrywide failed (or declined) to secure its interest in Dodd's home by taking the ordinary and essential step of presenting the documents to the local town clerk and recording them in the land records.

Too bad for Doddsy mortgages leave detailed paper trails. Dodd's making the same mistake as his ousted crooked Cong father----thinks he's dealing with a bunch of amateurs----well, maybe Conn liberals (snicker).

Now, it's likely that Dodd is on his hands and knees pleading with Obama to call off the Feds. That's why we need to take other routes to see that justice is done.

For example----Dodd (and his wife and family) are probably enrolled in high-roller comp programs at Conn casinos (and/or in other gambling venues). These programs show every nickel high rollers bet---including wins on which high rollers may not have paid taxes.

Casinos are very tightly regulated. They are more than happy to cooperate with authorities---to protect their licenses.

Casinos would also have records on the amount of untraceable casino chips Dodd (his wife and his family) received-----maybe gifts from his pal Angelo.

Authorities should also inquire if Dodd wire-transferred--- or if Angelo wire-transferred---monies into Dodd's casino account........and if taxes were paid on these monies.

Another possibility: Dodd, his family, and Angelo, may have used NETeller Plc to illegally convert monies that were then transferred offhore---to overseas gambling companies, for their personal use later.

NETeller is an Isle of Man-based payment processor for gambling Web sites (suspected of having operations in the US Virgin Islands---a notorious money-laundering bank haven).

The escrow company that handles the transaction always does that once the monies are wired. Why would someone instruct the escrow company not to record the Deed? Actually on a refi, the deed would be in Dodds name and the recording would be a lien by Country Wide. Interesting.

As long as he is contrite, says it was an honest mistake, he will get off without even a slap on the wrist. Wouldn’t it be nice if the GOP grew some nads and started getting more vocal about ethic lapses like this.

JUST WONDERING Was the mortgage non-existent? Were wired monies a payoff "laundered" as a mortgage?

Wired monies could be a smoking gun. Were the monies diverted-----maybe wired to a Conn casino account?

"Marc Rich is a tax-cheat extraordinaire..."......and was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List.

Even more nauseating-----Rich absconded to Switzerland, and renounced his American citizenship to avoid prosecution.

Yet the scumbag used the American system to get himself off scot-free via a presidential pardon-------and Holder was the faciliator.
