War next door ping!

“Instead of our new President and Congress thinking of closing Guantanamo and surrendering the war on terrorism, they need to look much closer to our own border gates. The barbarians are indeed at our gates!”

The greatest threat to this country is the administration that governs it and the supporting cast of the House and Senate, period.

SNIPPET from post no. 1:

"Decapitation has also become a favorite tactic of warring drug gangs that have contended for control over smuggling routes."

Although I am against drug use, legalizing their use would take the immense profit out of it and neutralize the drug thugs.

You would be amazed to learn, as I was, that the second greatest threat to America comes from this hemisphere – yes, right next door to us.

Amazed? Not at all.

I agree with you ,but its more complicated than that.Mexico is a country with almost no middle class, and long history of corruption. if my father was right he said that about 10 of the population owned 90% of the wealth/p>

I wouldn’t even call it the second greatest threat. It’s an equal threat.

You do have a sizable private sector middle class, but it is disproportionately located in the the north. The middle class in the rest of Mexico is disproportionately comprised of government workers.

You must also keep in mind the strong cultural divide in Mexico between the Amerindian, rural south and the industrialized north. There are several fissures in Mexican society that go far beyond the feudal system you describe (most of which was abolished by the revolution). Mexico had a revolution, land reform, and a welfare state, but none of these can compensate for certain cultural and political practices that retard further development.

Remember that, for all of its problems, Mexico is a "middle income" country. Be thankful you don't live next to Niger...

The biggest threat to America is an electorate that thinks it can simply vote itself something for nothing. If America is allowed to be America it can easily deal with foreign enemies.

Must be having a contest: "Who is the dumbest of them all?"

MIDEAST DUMB The US takes raw recruits off the farm, sends them to boot camp for three weeks---they are then ready for battle anywhere in the world. In Iraq, it took several years and trillions of US tax dollars to get them ready to defend their country.

MEXICO DUMB Mexico is using the Mideast Dumb Playbook---the Chapter entitled "How To Play Dumb To Dupe the US Into Pouring Trillions of Tax Dollars Into Your Pockets."

Mideast dumbos......Mexican nitwits.

Too stupid to govern.....but connivng enough to sucker the US president into laying out billions of US tax dollars.

Correct. But, because of the more effective and safer anit-inflammatory effects of marijuana, the real drug dealers, the pharmacists, will have to find a better way to deal with pain medication than opioids, and those from the left and the right who control our police state are not about to let that happen.

I disagree. Legalizing drugs would make the cartels even more wealthy, more powerful and more violent. Legalizaing drugs would undoubtedly increase the use. They would make more money simply from having more volume. The cartels could reinvest the large sums of money they spend on laundering and security on corrupting more government officials. These people that run the cartels are violent for the most part because they like violence. The money, power and most certainly the violence isn't going to go away by legalizing anything.

Like ending Prohibition made the alcohol gangs wealthier and more violent? You know better than that!

If mj were regulated along the lines of alcohol, there would be no reason to buy it from a cartel.
