NEW YORK -- Most Republican governors have broken with their GOP colleagues in Congress and are pushing for passage of President Barack Obama's economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care.
Their state treasuries drained by the financial crisis, governors would welcome the money from Capitol Hill, where GOP lawmakers are more skeptical of Obama's spending priorities.

Im gonna play doors music non stop until a real conservative is in the whitehouse
Now THAT’S torture.
The founders shoulda' stuck with the Articles of Confederation.
I’ve read some of the other posts. I think it’s probably true that the GOP governors are interested only in the infrastructure part of the package. Another way of looking at it would be that they are trying to reclaim a portion of the money the feds stole from them.
I am getting very confused with the entire subject ( as you can see ).
Just what we need — more cowardly sellouts.
From now on, instead of “Governor”, let them be called “Your Porkulence”.
Most Republican governors are no smarter economically than John McCain.
Look Sarah is the real deal. Just get it through your thick heads that the MSM will do anything, I mean anything short of murder, to take Sarah out. And the truth does not enter into the equation or matter one bit. They are slime and sluts, the bottom line.

I’ve read from other Team Sarah members who have actually had the stomach to visit liberal blogs who have said that they wish Sarah dead, yes dead, this is who we are dealing with here
Every year the Governors consult with their congressmen on federal appropriations. That's what these Republican Governors are doing (well, except for the nut in Vermont).
It is a neccessary part of their job. This has been going on since Madison's term as President. After him the floodgates opened and federal funds are now a large part of the states' budgets.
The ignorance and gullibility some Palin-haters avidly show sometimes, as on this thread, is remarkable IMO. There are certainly reasonable criticisms to make of her instead. Even unreasonable criticism that is honest is lacking. I don't get it.
Hey, as a New Jerseyan, I have to point out the following: Since 1997, Alaska has gotten back anywhere from $1.84 to $1.34 in federal spending for each dollar of federal tax paid. In comparison, since 1997 New Jersey has gotten back 71 cents to 61 cents in federal spending for each dollar of federal tax paid. NJ almost always ranks 48th, 49th, or 50th among the states in federal dollar give-backs.
I don't want to start a war between the states, but.... To see data for your state, check out this site.

—Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution—
“Any objective observer can see that the Tenth Amendment is the most widely violated provision of the bill of rights. If it had been enforced, America would be an astonishingly different country. Todays atmosphere of big government, ever-expanding entitlement programs, and bloated spending threaten to undermine the very basis of American liberty and self-reliance.
To bring about positive social change and to strengthen our most effective and efficient social institutions, we must rein in government, reject calls for expanded entitlement programs, and demand that government intervenes in only very limited ways and only when absolutely necessary.
The greatest advances of civilization, whether in architecture or painting, in science and literature, in industry or agriculture, have never come from centralized government.”

“These idiots are playing right into Barrys hand.”
That’s right.
“Obama’s economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care.”
With such stimulus aid will come strings attached that no truly responsible (to the people of his State) Governor would even want.
Then, they need to do what we all have to do -- CUT THE DAMNED SPENDING!
Every one of these states has been growing expenses by twice the inflation rate for the past two decades, if not longer. It's time to stop the madness. But of course, this will not happen, because we are all caught in the relentless grip of this Fabian Socialist python. Only millions marching in Washington might stop it, if it's not too late already.
Yes. Well said.
AND, these decisions about spending our hard earned are being made by a cabal of lawyers — very few Statesmen are left — who haven’t worked an honest day in their lives.
It was the only rational choice, sadly.
It’s not their money. It’s ours. Or was ours.
Screw it. I’ll just stay home on Monday and quit my job. Why bother?
I’ll watch highlights of the Super Bowl on a continuous loop on ESPN2 while sitting around picking my balls, eating a KFC bucket for breakfast and drinking beer.
I’ll get a government check and free healthcare benefits.
Maybe this Socialism thing isn’t so bad after all. I can learn to love it and Big Brother.
it’s a divide and conquer article to sow dissention in the ranks before the facts - turn conservative against conservative.
Au contraire! Many of these expenditures will continue year after year in perpetuity. With this "crisis" as an excuse, Democrats are imposing a massive increase in socialist governance, and sadly, itlooks like the Repubs are going along for the ride.
