One thing most do not know about Michael Steele: He is an anti-Second Amendment type elitist gun-grabber. Peruse the following, which are his own words, for proof of my claim:

“Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you’re going hunting? That’s overkill. But I don’t think that means you go to a total ban for those who want to use gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that But what’s the point of passing gun laws if we’re not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that’s where you need to start. We’ve got 300 gun laws on the books right now. At the end of the day, it’s about how we enforce the law.

I’d doubt it, Jindal is Catholic, Luc is Catholic, and I have not heard a thing said negatively concerning them on the basis of their Church.

Former EPA head Christine Todd Whitman, Mary Belle Snow, former Maryland Lt. Gov, Michael Steele

Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Christine Todd Whitman said she sees a need for the Republican party to be less boxed in. “There is no way for us to all be aligned on every issue. I cut taxes but am pro choice, so what does that make me. A moderate? A liberal?” she asked.

Along with former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele, Whitman came to town to find support for the Republican Leadership Council — and nearly 75 people ponied up to hear the pitch.

I hope one day that people will not focus on the obvious fact that a man is "black".

I listen to Mike because he makes SENSE!Race has nothing to do with with what's "right and wrong".

We have a whole bunch of crooks and thieves in our government who are white, Oh YEA, and a president who isn't.

But he is already naming cabinet people who are nuts and making policy that will bankrupt us.

Oh, I forgot, we already ARE!

There it is: “10. A devout Catholic” The reason why the mainstream media and their cohorts in the democrat party will use all their energy to trash this man.
Anytime a Black moves out of the plantation and the victimhood, and joins the ranks of the normal, clear-thinking people, the left immediately tries to destroy him.
The left is disgusting.

The rubber meets the road NOW.

Steele is going to have to prove his steel and deliver.

There is little room for error now and the new conservative house must be built on a strong foundation.

Q: Do you think the time for affirmative action is past?
Steele: Absolutely not. We’re just beginning to rediscover what we should be doing with affirmative action. Don’t look at our universities. We got that. Let’s look at our boardrooms, let’s look at the management structure.

This is the greatest news for conservatives. I love Michael Steele. He is smart, well spoken, has a good sense of humor, is a gentleman but he has spine. I just wish he were President..That said, I am pleased we have him in this position now when we need him most. He will be the one great hope for us conservatives who are so upset with the RINOS. I will be eager to hear what Rush has to say when he gets back.

We’ll watch and see and reply to that media, then, correct? Asking them why they are so bigoted againat a Catholic and a black man, of course. (A little sarcasm there.

Yes, it is. You should ask if he is able to obtain his Original Birth certificate. Only SIX states in the Union allow Adoptees access to their Original BC...what he will show is his AMENDED BC. Please read my user page for more information.

Aside from that, I look forward to what Michael Steele can do for the conservative movement...

No comment as to what that 'makes Mrs. Whitman', but if I ever have to choose between voting for a tax-raiser who believes in the sanctity of God-given life vs. a tax-cutter who believes an unborn baby is a lifeless blob of protoplasm that can excised as if it were a tumor -- I'd vote for the tax-raiser.
'Oddly' enough (actually it really isn't all that odd), at least in this Country, the vast majority of those that are pro-life also support smaller government (and less taxes).

No ban on guns; focus on enforcement instead

Q: Your views on gun control?

A: My views are pretty much in line with the governor's. I grew up under some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. You can have all the gun control laws in the country, but if you don't enforce them, people are going to find a way to protect themselves. We need to recognize that bad people are doing bad things with these weapons. It's not the law-abiding citizens, it's not the person who uses it as a hobby.

Q: Should people have access to buy assault weapons?

A: Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you're going hunting? That's overkill. But I don't think that means you go to a total ban for those who want to use gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that But what's the point of passing gun laws if we're not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that's where you need to start. We've got 300 gun laws on the books right now. At the end of the day, it's about how we enforce the law.

***I would hope FReepers would take a minute to read the whole story, and not just cut and paste what pleases them.***

It's obvious that he's not a gun owner, nor is he a gun hater. He needs some positive education, but he is not anti guns or RKBA.
