My heart goes out to those effected by the ice storm. No heat or electric. People have died. My question is where is the outcry, where is the news media's moment to moment coverage of this story? Where is their help?!!! How come Obama is not addressing this? How come he has not gone there yet??? What is FEMA doing, or not doing????

Answer: Help involves knowledge of electricity. To liberals, electricity - since proper design requires the use of mathematics - is magic.

WHOA... I didn’t know that 42 people had died. Barry should command the southern winds to melt the ice.

I missed a day of work because of the ice here in the Dallas area. Where is my $2000 debit card?

Obama’s response to this is worse than Bush's response to Katrina.

And, by the way, Bush wasn't responsible for the response to Katrina, as it was particularly located to one state. It was the state and city officials who had a responsibility to the citizenry.

This, however, affects an entire, multi-state region.

Instead of giving money to ACORN and for condom distribution, the feds should be spending that money on disaster relief. But, of course, this disaster is affecting the midwest, the red-staters, so eff them, they Dems appear to be saying.

Look on the bright side. They’re lucky they’re not dependent on wind turbines for their electricity. Anyone think those would work after an ice storm?

The creative are flushing their toilets with melted snow.

Where do these so-called reporters come from?

Where does he think cities get their water? What, they manufacture it in those big water towers? [/s]

Winter snow melts in spring, and runs in to creeks and rivers and lakes. Cities pump their water from those creeks and rivers and lakes.

And guess what -- people use that water, which is melted snow and ice, to flush their toilets.

The folks in NE Arkansas are also taking a hit. Just North of here in Obion County, Tennessee, it is just as bad. I am just thankful that it went 80 miles North of here...the last time we had an ice storm we were out of power for two weeks and it was cold. There is some relief in knowing one has an old time fireplace and a constant source of water.

If Obama’s FEMA cannot handle this, what in the world are they going to do WHEN a big hurricane strikes?
My guess, if one hits a “mostly white” populated area or a “red voting” area, those folks can expect NO HELP.

The 42 people who have died - what percentage of them were white? I mean, Obama certainly seems sort of - I don’t know - unconcerned about this disaster. Is it that he HATES white people or something?

I agree - WHERE’S FEMA? WHY IS “O” NOT THERE YET? - WHERE IS THE HELP? - Is “O” trying to kill white people?

Uh - these people are “taking care of business” themselves. They’re actually melting snow to flush their toilets - AND doing whatever they have to in order to survive instead of squawking about the gubmint not taking care of them.

I’m frankly glad for those who were entrapped in the corrupt socialist system in New Orleans having escaped to pursue better lives.

I guess its assumed that white people can take care of themselves. It seems thats the message the MN in the WH is sending.

Why isn’t FEMA supplying emergency heating, or evacuations/shelters? I thought Obama was going to show us how things are SUPPOSED to be done in an natural emergency situation? It’s not like he couldn’t SEE the storm moving in - the weathermen knew it was going to happen DAYS in advance!!!
[I think the aid to Gaza, for example, could’ve waited a few days until we made sure the people in our OWN country had water and food! Won’t ACORN understand that the billions they’ve been promised would be better spent helping people survive the winter?]

How many days has it been now that people are FREEZING TO DEATH? And, he won’t even SHOW UP? He won’t even SAY anything about it?

His solution must be to “toughen up”, after all it’s just “Some — some ice”. After all, that’s what he told everyone in D.C. the other day... Does he even KNOW there are people dying? Does he even CARE?

WHY ISN’T OBAMA DOING SOMETHING TO SAVE THESE PEOPLE!?!?!?

He was JOKING about the ice-storm the other day! I’m sure those who are LITERALLY freezing to death don’t think it’s very funny! Talk about “out-of-touch”!!!

So much for CHANGE — eh, Obama????

/partial sarcasm off

Prayers for the brave souls trying to survive the elements right now... Prayers also for those already lost, as well as their loved ones and friends.

Today I will buy 15 gallons of gas for the tractor, then start the clean up next week when the ice is gone. Right now, the danger is falling ice everywhere. We are supposed to be up around 60 degrees today.

We had 60 hours without electricity ( with a six hour period when it came on for a short time). We are On natural gas with two 5 gal bottles of propane and a propane camp stove backup, city water and two gallons of lamp oil and lots of oil lamps.

Lots of food. You might say we have been through this before. I got out and went to the store yeaterday. There were lots of people looking for non-exixtant oil and lamps, one with a cart full of little propane bottles and everyone buying food. None seemed to be prepared for this except us.

All I bought was some cold and flu medicine. Didn’t need anything else. We did well.

Pity the hospitals nine months from now.

I know just where the folks in Kentucky are at right now. We were out for a week in December here in New Hampshire. Here’s hoping for warm days and lots of line crews.
