The link might take you to the PB's main page. If it does, look on the right side of the screen for the article link.

I haven’t followed the NFL for years, so maybe they’ve already done this, but what I’d watch would be a post-season game pitting the AFC’s best offense and best defense against the NFC’s ditto.

They could block it out in Palm Beach too. I don't think I've watched five minutes of a Pro Bowl since I was 14 years old. (Tittle was just coming to the the Giants then.)

I believe it is next year they are moving it from Hawaii. I also think they are playing it the week ahead of the Super Bowl in the SB city. I presume that means players from the SB teams will not be playing. The NFL is aware of the waning popularity of the Pro Bowl, and is trying to add a little more hype to it.

Obviously the effort is not quite there in the SB. It is not like base or basket ball where there is relatively little chance of being injured (paging Ray Fosse). So I'm sure the players aren't too keen on going all out in the Pro Bowl.

This game is always blacked out at my house. Other than enjoying Hawaii for the participants, it is useless.

With ticket sales lagging, Pro Bowl could be blacked out in Hawaii
Associated Press

HONOLULU -- Amid a deteriorating economy and a sharp decline in tourism to Hawaii, Pro Bowl tickets haven't been selling as well as previous years, and whether the event will return to Honolulu in future years remains uncertain.

The NFL on Wednesday said the league's all-star game could be blacked out on television in Hawaii if the roughly 5,000 remaining tickets are not sold 72 hours before the Feb. 8 game. The game has sold out, usually weeks in advance, every year since moving to 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium in 1980.

"Pro Bowls are usually sold out by now. That's why we're particularly concerned," said Frank Supovitz, the NFL's senior vice president of events.

Besides the tourism slowdown and economic woes, Supovitz said some fans might not realize tickets are still available. The cheapest seats available are $45. He's hoping for a rush of sales in the final days.

The Pro Bowl is the worst allstar event in sports. The NBA and MLB ones are much more interesting and even they aren’t that interesting.

Cut the price to twenty bucks for the last few days.
