In my state, we registered republicans voted at our caucuses last year, sent delegates to the state convention, where our National Committee People were elected - these are the folks voting now. Folks really don’t realize how important attending caucuses are. If we want to affect the workings of the party, we need to get involved there.

In Duncan's defense, I'm not sure there was much he could have done different this past year. Let's be honest, McCain dragged us down.

I think given better dynamics, you will be happy with Duncan. He's been great for party development here in Kentucky throughout the years.

Hey wait!!!! I am a registered useless repube....when do I get to vote?

The Republican Party is much like Congress and is a representative democracy. As a registered Republican you had the opportunity to take part in the party's reorganization last year. Each state has a national committeeman, national committeeman and state chair that are elected by their state's executive committee. Those are the people voting in this election.

I hate the caucus system.

I do NOT want to discuss my vote with anyone. I want to go into the booth and vote without some yahoo, telling my how to vote.

the caucus system gave us Obama.

the caucus system must GO.

From NRO Campaign Spot:

“Another reporter notes that the RNC has to be out of the ballroom by 5 p.m. because a wedding is slated to use the room starting at 5:30.”

Wonder if this will end up out in the parking lot!

Our caucus system is by secret ballot. We met, those who wanted to run gave speeches and a secret ballot was taken. What is good about it is that you meet those in your precinct and you actually get to know who you’re voting for. If you voted in a primary situation for a party convention how would you even have a chance to know who you are voting for?

Anuzis was something to do with the Michigan Republican party. I used to be on his email list. Seems conservative enough, obviously not very effective in getting Republicans elected there.

Why didn’t the low man on the totem pole (Blackwell) be forced to drop off after the 1st vote? Could somebody explain the rules to me and if the low man will be eliminated in subsequent votes?

Because that's the voting system the RNC chose to use. Nobody is required to drop out at any stage, but eventually behind the scenes lobbying and horse-trading will see one or more of the less popular candidates throwing their support behind someone else. I don't know what happens if the vote remains deadlocked with delegates refusing to change their vote, but I doubt that will happen. At some point you'll see a large swing toward one candidate and the writing will be on the wall for the others.
