Au contraire, Blago forced it. He wanted a big show with witnesses and everything. They gave him a star chamber with the same transcripts that were public. Indeed, when Fitzgerald agreed to provide some other tapes, the SEIU and others went to court to prevent that from happening. This show ain't over yet although it will not be public for a while until the criminal indictments come out. Fitz has been working on Chicago for years. He wants more trophies...

The investigation was shut down when it got too close to 0bama. I had read, a while back, that there were tapes of Emanuel telling Blago that he could get Blago’s wife some appointments to corporate boards but it would have to wait 2 years so as not to look like pay-for-play. After the election the 0bama campaign got wind of the investigation (0bama was privy to EVERYTHING after he won the election) and Emanuel made the call saying they wouldn't give anything for the seat. Shortly thereafter Fitz came forth and spoke of the investigation. Trust me, if Blago has done wrong, which it looks like he has, 0bama knew about it. Blago has asked that ALL the tapes be played and his request was declined. Why do you suppose they won't release all the tapes unless they are protecting someone? I'm sure that ALL the politicos, R and D, in Illinois would be inclined to protect ‘native son’ 0bama.
