Is Pelosi Panicking? Leaked Memo Lashes Out at Republicans
Human Events ^ | 29 January 09 | Connie Hair

Posted on 01/29/2009 7:57:16 AM PST by Clinton's a liar

This is a memo from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Democratic members sent after the stimulus vote yesterday. Pelosi is apparently panicked at Republicans’ success in uniting against her hyperpartisan actions in shutting them out of the formulation of the stimulus bill and in peeling nearly a dozen Dems off to vote in opposition.

Here is the full text of the memo leaked to HUMAN EVENTS this morning.

Memo
To: Interested Parties
From: Brendan Daly
Re: The Republican Problem
Date: January 29, 2009

The House Republican Leadership put its Members in another politically untenable position yesterday: trying to reclaim the mantle of lower taxes and small government -- at the exact time when economists of every ideological stripe agree that government investments are the only way to get our economy moving again and make us competitive for the long term.

So yesterday, while we are facing the greatest economic crisis in decades, Republican House Members ended up voting unanimously against:

They will try to blame Conservatives, but too many Americans will have been ruined by their incompetent stupidity for them to pass the blame on to someone else, this time.

You have little faith in their ability to blame others.

So, you believe that eliminating the capital gains tax, cutting government spending (alleviating the burden on the debt market to instead go to companies) and not bailing out stupid businesses is all wrong and incapable of providing a better basis for going forward?

Keynes is NOT the right way to go. Ever.

Actually looking back at the Great Depression there is one type of government spending that did work.

Countries that invested heavily in military spending such as Japan and Germany did fare better than countries that may of spent about the same amount of government spending but more for public works and soup kitchens.

This would be the perfect time to rebuild the military back up to Cold War levels.

Are you on drugs?

There's no danger of balancing the federal budget, anytime soon...it's a question of whether throwing money at a problem has ever worked...it's a question of whether a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit(not debt; deficit) will bring another set of problems, on top of the $$$ borrowed to bail out the banks.

What's more, what the big "O" promised, an infrastructure bill, does not in any way resemble what has been created.

Why don't you explain why welfare for local government employees will help the economy? Why don't you explain why shoveling billions of $$$ to ACORN will provide stimulus?

Why don't you pay attention to what's going on?

"You say leaked? Leaked my A$$. More like published."

You said it. They don't tell lie after lie to themselves. Pelousey is sending a message to the people, couched as a "leak" so that people will be panting and huffing to hear the inside information. As if! (Oops -- former Valley Girl showing) They know where the credit is due, but they always take it for themselves. Likewise the blame, always our fault according to them. I blame 0bumma.

You’re right.
Got my thoughts jumbled.
Yes, she MAY be in a panic about the supposed united front by Republicans, but I cannot see WHY she would be afraid of that. The Dems have the votes to pass whatever they want.

So, you are saying that she is in a panic because the dems will have full ownership of this when it is revealed to be the smelly turd that WE already know it is? Well, that won’t matter either because the press will print something idiotic blaming it on republicans and the Obamatrons will lap it up.....again and vote even more dems to Congress to FIX THE PROBLEMS. Oh the IRONY!

I do think the memo was intentionally leaked and I HOPE Repubs ALL vote NO!

at the exact time when economists of every ideological stripe agree that government investments are the only way to get our economy moving again and make us competitive for the long term.

That part is an absolute lie. Didn't a bunch of economists, including at least one Nobel winner, take out an ad saying that governmental interference is not the answer?

See my #230. Plenty of respected economists oppose this rushed and pork-laden bill.

I've never written a vanity, but please feel free to write one of my behalf... as to the flames, I'm finding all the my way or the highway stuff by people tedious and childish and why we are in dire straits in the GOP. Common sense has to become the order of the day.. Conservatives can get elected here in Arizona (so far) but they cannot get elected in places like CA, NY, NJ, etc... we need to start at the local levels in those states and build from there... that is what people should be working toward... letters to the editors, and whatever else methods they can utilize... to convince people that liberal policies are not good policies... we need to get back to being a party that stands for something and convince people there is a reason to stand for what we do...

off my soapbox

.

Who said Republicans were a bunch of spineless, unprincipled ninnies? Tonight’s news that every single House Republican voted NAY on the Democrats’ Generational Theft Act of 2009 is already breathing new life into conservatism. Notwithstanding tales of Republicans fighting for pictures of themselves yukking it up with President Obama, the congressional GOP — finally free from President Bush — is no longer apologizing for its conservatism.

Even better: Republicans are also rediscovering that conservatism can and should be fun. Rep. John Carter, a Republican from Texas, has introduced a bill that would create the “Rangel Rule.” Advancing the idea that everyone deserves equal under the law, Carter’s bill stipulates that anyone paying overdue taxes can write “Rangel Rule” across his/her returns and the IRS would be forbidden from charging fees or penalties.

House Republicans said their counter stimulus bill would create twice as many jobs at half the cost. Whose numbers did they rely on? None other than President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers’ Chairwoman. (Clearly, a right-wing nutjob!)

Here’s hoping Senate Republicans follow in-kind. Perhaps one might even have the audacity to filibuster.

Polls may show Obama to be the cat’s pajamas, but that doesn’t mean his policies make sense. Committing America to a trillion dollars in new debt is a path not to prosperity, but to poverty. Senate Republicans need to embrace their conservative principles now more than ever.

I don't understand why she is so upset! If it's the greatest bill ever written and a sure winner for the economy, why should she be concerned about a few Dems and ALL the Repubs not voting for it!

You Dems own this one LOCK,STOCK and BARREL! ENJOY!

Warning: put your high boots on when reading this epic!

Thanks for the ping ... Laura nails it... if our senators can only find a spine they could give poor dingy Harry a coronary. BTW, according to Keith Olbermann last night, the RNC is already running anti-Harry ads in Reno ... Olbermann was practially apoplectic about it. It was actually fun to watch his show last night, the moves of the GOP was making him melt down.

Let’s hope that by the time Congressional elections roll around the citizens are so tired of “Change we can believe in” that there will be a wholesale clean sweep cleaning of the House. We can hope and pray. Yes we can.
