This is a memo from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Democratic members sent after the stimulus vote yesterday. Pelosi is apparently panicked at Republicans success in uniting against her hyperpartisan actions in shutting them out of the formulation of the stimulus bill and in peeling nearly a dozen Dems off to vote in opposition.
Here is the full text of the memo leaked to HUMAN EVENTS this morning.

Re: The Republican Problem
Date: January 29, 2009
The House Republican Leadership put its Members in another politically untenable position yesterday: trying to reclaim the mantle of lower taxes and small government -- at the exact time when economists of every ideological stripe agree that government investments are the only way to get our economy moving again and make us competitive for the long term.
So yesterday, while we are facing the greatest economic crisis in decades, Republican House Members ended up voting unanimously against:

I wish she’d slip on some ice somewhere and knock some sense into herself.
More propaganda for the shepple. Just like the constant comments about how “tax cuts have enver worked” and the other dumb things I’ve heard over the past week while they are desparately trying to rip the American tax payer off.
“as much as tax cuts sound like a good idea, the possibility that they would be spent (thus stimulating consumption and growth) as opposed to saved is a not 100% clear.”
Saved money is as good as spent. When money is saved, the banks are able to lend, which leads to spending.
I’m sure, but still, you would think that even liberals would want attractive candidates. The Kennedy thing is easily explained (lots of family money and a brother who was a beloved President) but Pelosi? Yikes.
economists of every ideological stripe agree that government investments are the only way to get our economy moving again and make us competitive for the long term.

huh? They do?
gubamint knows best how to invest when it has already cut the throats and stabbed the taxpayers repeatedly since 2006 alone?
Who’da thunk the pyroqueen gets to light the village celebration bonfire.? Wow, California continues leading the nation.. over the edge and into the abyss.
Good.
Those Senators need prayers for courage...and in many cases, conscience. Pray that God does work where we cannot, in the very heart.
Not saying they won’t,
I’m saying they don’t... yet.
Never give up your means of defending yourself and we’ll stay out of the realm of possibility.
I donated to RNCC last night to thank them for their vote FOR the people instead of Obama. We need to reward them when they do right.
I too support a mixture of tax cuts and spending.
However, it needs to be the right spending. According to the WSJ, only a tiny part of this package is infrstructure spending etc...very small amount.
Most is on frivolous stuff that has nothing to do with job growth.
And of the course the tax cuts aren’t really that at all.
This is the best I’ve felt since that fateful day, 11/04/08.
LOL I’ve always loved that graphic!
Things are staring to spiral out there...
Somebody should put the crying baby up-with Ms. Pelosi on top!
The money is already wasted before it even gets handed out.
But what the hey, what do us stupid Conservatives know about economics.
Posted ^ before I saw your comment ;)
I agree with this, in that it's hard to get two economists to agree on whether or not the sun is shining today. Never mind agreeing on something as complex as the economy.....
I think even the lefty nay Dems were told to reject it by their voters. Deep down they wanted re-election, despite their urge to vote otherwise.
Did the plastic surgeon sew a “constant smile” onto her face?
Their website shows 47 member pictures including disgraced Tim Mahoney FL. Only 6 of these supposedly fiscally responsible Democrats opposed this massive spending bill.
