Remember, Obama did speak with the Iraqi government before he was elected, about pulling the troops out of Iraq. He even said it himself.
If he was willing to negotiate against what Pres. Bush was doing with the Iraqis, (and I believe he did the same with the Syrians)...why would we NOT believe that he would do the same with AQ>??

IF he did this, he should be arrested. NOW!!! That clearly is a violation of the Logan Act which we all know he already violated when he went over to help Odinga try to win that election. We know what the horrific out come of that fiasco was. I cannot stress how dangerous this man is.

For terror groups like AQ, isn't one of the problems fighting them is that they are stateless organs?
How could Obama or anyone make a "deal" with AQ? How can you enforce an agreement with a group that operates outside the confines of the state - outside of any legal structures?
Compound the problem of statelessness with its cellular structure; AQ is likely to fracture into splinter groups with different leaders emerging. Obama will be making deals with these people all day long.
But who will ‘prosecute’ him if true?
If they won’t we file case after case after case after case.
“Temporary Truce”, that is what a date certain for withdrawal of our troops will get with Obambi.

The Obama Administration is drafting a letter to the Iranian regime.
The Guardian reported, via Drudge:
Officials of Barack Obama’s administration have drafted a letter to Iran from the president aimed at unfreezing US-Iranian relations and opening the way for face-to-face talks, the Guardian has learned.
The US state department has been working on drafts of the letter since Obama was elected on 4 November last year. It is in reply to a lengthy letter of congratulations sent by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on 6 November.
Diplomats said Obama’s letter would be a symbolic gesture to mark a change in tone from the hostile one adopted by the Bush administration, which portrayed Iran as part of an “axis of evil”.
It would be intended to allay the suspicions of Iran’s leaders and pave the way for Obama to engage them directly, a break with past policy.
State department officials have composed at least three drafts of the letter, which gives assurances that Washington does not want to overthrow the Islamic regime, but merely seeks a change in its behaviour. The letter would be addressed to the Iranian people and sent directly to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or released as an open letter.
