JONESBORO, Ga. -- A high school dance team at Jonesboro High School has been disbanded.
The move announced Tuesday comes after parents complained about a provocative dance routine that was performed by the 8-member group at a Jan. 13 basketball game.
Jacqueline Evans, a school district spokeswoman, said the squad will not be allowed to perform or represent the school for the remainder of the school year.
A video showing the dance, titled "The Sluts of Jonesboro," had also been posted on YouTube, but has since been removed from the web site.
"The team will not perform for the remainder of the year, nor will they represent the school in any other performances, Evans said Tuesday.
Evans said the girls will not face disciplinary action.

But that WSB TV (owned by the Parent of the Atlanta Journal Constitution) found the video even after it had been deleted from YouTube for racy content and felt the need to put 6 minutes of the under age girls doing basically stripper practice on their web site.
Just covering the news,no doubt...
They should have been tossed just for the glaring lack of talent, let alone the faux slutco lap dance routine...
All around poor.
How is that any different than any music video for just about every song that they make today?

Yes. As a separate issue, it was not well done.
I didn't think so
there is the difference between democraps and conservatives

It really isn’t that different other than being poorly executed. Part of the conflict you see among the commenters on WSB web site is generational - the MTV generation sees that kind of dancing as normal.

First off , why is it that all of you older women are calling these younger girls names. I am an 11th grader at Jonesboro High School , I’m not taking up for them because i go there but because someone should reather than putting them down . If anything you should be trying to prevent these types of comments from going forth about these young ladies( YES YOUNG LADIES). You can’t help what they don’t know , i’m sure most of their parents did not know about them doing these type of dances. You also have to look at it from every perspective . Look at who these girls idolize where they get the dances from if that’s what they see all day everyday then how can you not expect them to conform to what society has put into them as cool. I see what you all mean by it shouldnt have gone forth as a dance. I understand that they showed not one bit of respect for themsleves but if they do not know better how can you expect better ??? Besides it was approved by the adminastrators so why punish the dancers when it was shown to the overseers. So who’s to blame now ?? <<
IMO this is just one of those "adjustments".
I agree -- I went to HS in the 60's and cheerleaders were always playing just the near side of racy, sometimes even at the games.

It wasn't pulled from YouTube for racy content per se -- many much more racy vids exist there. Somebody made a phone call to whomever posted it, and had it moved.
I didn't go looking, but there's a separate section of YouTube for vids not deemed suitable for the main site. It probably got transferred there, and the station probably got it from there.
Maybe I'm jaded, but I didn't see anything obscene. Tasteless, in parts yes, and rather stupid overall, but not obscene. And there's no law against underage girls being tasteless, even in public. (Though some days I wish there were such a law...)
They’re bootylicious!
I used to go to topless bars back in my late teens (early 1970’s). Yes the drinking age was 21 but that is another story.
What these girls on the video were doing was a public table dance while keeping their tops on.
Need I say that is not appropriate in our high schools?
>>Would anyone here let their daughter do that?
I didn’t think so<<
What surprises me is what the young girls do - 8 year olds doing stuff I’d only expect from high school girls to the beat beat of “I wanna be your slave”
The parents may not be that involved of what their 17 year olds do but they certainly know what the 8 year olds do.
If they ran this routine by an adult in charge, then the girls should be re-instated and the adult should be bearing the brunt of this. This girl may not have posted the full story, but just what she know about it. And she may be wrong.
Yes, if this was approved by the admins, they are the ones that should be held accountable. There is always a “responsible and accountable adult”. You are a “child” until you are 18.

That is exactly what they were doing.
Deserves to be at a strip club.
My daughter (age 15) wouldn't be interested in doing that. She's raised better than that, so I would not have to hear that question, "Dad can I do that?"
Of course, I'll probably hear some other questions I'd just as soon not hear, but I'm pretty sure this one ain't on the menu.
They should ask 0bama for a presidential pardon or a sentence commutation at they very least.
Didn’t seem that outrageous, if they didn’t want co-ed dance team, then they shouldn’t have a dance team.
This was less provocative than the 1990’s dance routines of color guards I saw in high school. Still remember watching the East Side (Paterson NJ) marching band color guard and the the Clifford J Scott High School (East Orange , NJ) color guard... in the stands during football games...
Seems Clifford J Scott is still up to it, the color guard would dance off against/with cheerleaders... was a crazy sight to see and often stole the show.
What is truly sad is that we have an entire subculture which sees nothing wrong with such primitive, animalistic behavior — the same subculture that births three bastards for every one legitimate baby. But, of course, we’re not supposed to make value judgments...
