Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

Hi, General! We have to leave for church in about half an hour, and take all the boys, since Anoreth went “snow-tubing” with the church youth group.
Oops! I almost wrote the check for the collection out of the Girl Scouts checkbook! That would look bad.
LOL!
I was going to drag myself to church today, but I didn’t get up until after 7:00, and I just can’t make it, (it takes so long to get ready) especially when I have to drive for 25 minutes.
Unfortunately, setting an alarm is not an option for me. With CFIDS, I just have to sleep it off...*sigh*
We’re only about 15 minutes from church, which is good, considering how often we come and go!
Later, I’ll get out my receipts from skating, groceries, and dinner with the Girl Scouts on Thursday, and pay myself back. I write checks to DP, because it would look funny writing them to myself.
as for the GS checkbook - been there, NEARLY done that from BSA account.

I’ve been within 10 minutes of church for the last 10 years, but this time, when we split up to make more Wards, we ended up with no chapel of our own, so we have to take what is available.
Most chapels see three or four Wards on a Sunday, in rotation, and for this year (until our own chapel is built) we have to drive a few miles.
I wish I had someone to write checks to. Better yet, have someone write checks to me!! LOL!
I think snow makes for lovely views, as long as I don’t have to go outdoors!
Seeya - time to load up the musical instruments and the epople.
