Hackers Crack Into Texas Road Sign, Warn of Zombies Ahead

Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."

Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.

"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason — to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."

"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

It must have been. The dog was very hyper this morning.

Our elderly cat seems to approve of the move, though. She came downstairs for her Fancy Feast this morning for the first time in weeks. I’ve been having to deliver her food to her special room (my office).

None 8 feet long by 4 feet wide? Maybe we should get several smaller tables ...

I think I’ll look around for the Topic later. We never know when it might turn up.

I got the ping when I got up this morning. Very smoothly done, it didn’t wake me up at all.

Remember, I have been in exile in the dessert for 2 years.

Mrs. FD is doing well, but we are both bummed because I am here in Richmond and she is in L.A. We went live on the current project yesterday so I had to stay here for the weekend and I wasn’t able to bring her here since we didn’t know if it would slip into today.

The same happened last year on SB Sunday :(

The good news is I am meeting her in Mexico next weekend so we can spend time together and with her family then. And I get to eat REAL Mexican food!

Two years in a dessert? I certainly hope it was chocolate!!! :o0

On the other hand...I’ve been in the desert most of my life, and I really like it! *snikker*

SB Sunday for me has been spent mostly in the company of me. But it’s OK...I’m used to it. :o|

(Darn)

Hey! Don’t forget, this is “The month of great men”.

My birthday is on the twenty-seventh.

Yeah, right. Like zombies would go to Austin. They would starve.

I prefer to say it’s “the month of great people,” since my sister is in the mix. Ohyah...and I forgot...a brother’s birthday the day after hers!

Okay, I suppose. Especially since my daughter, teen2, has her birthday along with Ronald Reagan.
